Lloyd ''Raggamuffin Man'' Honeyghan Bruddahood Thread

Just watching British Boxing Heroes....even though Starling beating **** out of him. Honeyghan deserves massive props. Not only for his heart in this fight but the way he fought in general. He goes under the radar a bit with our forum. But my word was he good to watch.

He had some skills and mixed it with a fantastic tv style. He my type of fighter. He fight tooth and nail for what he has or wants and willing to go out on his shield. Compared to some of the poor abject displays abroad in more recent times from British fighters in World Title challenges i think we need to Big up Lloyd and give the ''Raggamuffin Man'' his props. :good

How would he fit in with the current crop of fighters in and around his weight? Any Stories of the man?? heard he was a right character. Actually seen him in flesh and the man's dress sense is out there...that's all i can say

 

I thought that he put it some very tough gutsy performances in his time at the top...:yep Although not the most technical fighter, he gave his best against the best...:yep

He went down in my estimations bigtime when Frank Bruno fought Oliver McCall, I will get banned if I write what I am thinking...:barf

i was at crystal palace academy watching a session i see this lad run onto pitch and i see this bloke wave to him....it's him..the clobber he had on...he should be locked up

Really good fighter. Excellent skills offensive and defensive. The Real McCoy and last of a breed unified world champions when he took the belt of the excellent Don Curry a personal hero of mine.

Shame this thread seems to have took a nosedive. Looks like many people ain't fans of the man.

The way he snatched the title from Curry was fantastic. It was kill or be killed.

 

The Honey that demolished Curry would give ANY ACTIVE Welter the fight of their lives.

And yes I mean Floyd and Pac as well :deal

 

Honeyghan was quality - will upload some of his fights that aren't on Youtube at the moment for this thread :good

His performance against Curry is one of the greatest by any British fighter without a doubt.

I saw pretty much all of Honeys fights from Gilpin onwards. Great fighter, got a soft #1 WBC ranking by beating an old Horace Shufford but made up for that by, instead of waiting for Curry to move up and getting a vacant title, having the balls to take on Curry in a fight very few thought he had a chance in.

IMHO he seemed to fall in love with his power after walking though 140lbers Hatcher and Bumpus in his early title defences and that probably cost him is title against Vaca.

Starling was always a bad style matachup for him and it was no surprise to me when he lost the title he'd regained from Vaca in a pretty one-sided fight against Moochie.

After that he was pretty much done, he lost to Mark Breland in a world title shot that I think he would have won if the 2 fighters were in the their prime.

Johnny Bumphus Honeyghan was up for that one. Bumphus seems pretty frail in all the fights I've seen him but Honeyghan really didn't give him a chance there.

He definitely seemed to shift to the all-out aggresive tactics he employed against Curry post-that win. That, and his lifestyle did not lend him to a prolonged shelflife.

Funnily enough, The Sun from the day I was born has the whole backpage dedicated to a Honeyghan title defence, I think against Blocker.
