I think there are similarities between this fight and the Raiders Bucs super bowl. The Raiders coach from the previous year went to the bucs and the lucky bucs met the Raiders in the super bowl that year. Needless to say the bucs crushed the Raiders. Not enough is made of the fact that Roach trained oscar prior and knew all along manny would beat him because of how much oscar had declined, the weight drained issue only made it worse for oscar.
and you you PHUCKIN LOP.if you think OSCAR WAS ON POINT THAT NIGHT.atschITS YOU THAT DONT KNOW **** pinay
The story of the fight is complex but I'll do my best to explain it. Oscar wants to **** with Top Rank as per usual Oscar takes a liberty by signing to fight the FAR SMALLER Manny Roach could see from the Forbes fight that Oscar was worth the risk Oscar agrees to fight at welterweight for the first time in 7 years which, at 35, was ******ED Oscar goes to extreme measures to make the weight Oscar looks like a wax sculpture in training, seems ****ed and rumour has it, gets frequently bashed around in sparring Oscar weighs in at the ridiculously low weight of 145lbs Oscar is weighed unoffically on fight night and has gained only 2lbs Oscar has to be rehydrated using an IV drip because his body is so depleted. Oscar gets slapped around like a novice Manny did his job but Oscar was physiologically ****ed that night. If you think Pacquiao could do that to Oscar at 75%, in say 1999, then best of luck to you. Credit to Pacquiao for turning in the performance he did but the champion he bashed up was a shell of himself. The Hatton, Cotto and Clottey fights are all far superior victories in my eyes.
Anyone saying Oscar was in fighting shape at that weight isnt worth listening to in the first place. The facts are there, read my posts above this one!
I definately think that when Roach was training Oscar for the Floyd fight, he saw something and he knew that Pacquiao would be able to beat Oscar. When you train a fighter you surely notice alot of things that you don't see when you watch someone fight on TV.
He may have seen the start of it but Oscar was still pretty sharp against Floyd. However, one year later, at 150lbs, he looked dreadful against Forbes and I think the drop in weight contributed to his performance. To lose another 5lbs for Pacquaio was a horrendous decision and that led to a MAJOR ass whipping.
Oscar was definately shot against Flyod and even though you think he looked pretty sharp I think that has to do with Floyd's performance more than anything else. Obviously moving down in weight would only make things worse. And though Oscar only needed to lose 3 lbs from the Forbes fight to the Pac fight and Pac had to move up 12 lbs, if Oscar wanted to pull a stunt like that, he should have fought some 2nd rate WW or another Forbes caliber fighter that he could beat 12 rounds to 0, instead of the p4p king at that time. Oscar payed for it.
Don't care much for this win. It's like bringing up beating Muhammad Ali as a reason for Larry Holmes greatness. All this win did was show emmanuel can fight well as a welterweight. His Cotto win is miles better.
Dude Do you know what shot is? Oscar gave Floyd a lot of trouble and I scored the fight for Mayweather by one round. If Oscar was 75% for Floyd, he was at 40% (being generous) for Pacquiao and few would argue that. Ability will matter more than size when the guy in front of you is dead at the weight. Oscar was an accident waiting to happen at 145lbs.
Even if Oscar was drained and past prime for several years, to move up from SFW to Lightweight, and then to move up from Lightweight to Welterweight after just 1 fight, and put a performance like that, its amazing. You can say what you want now...
Oscar's gameplan nuetralised a lot of Floyd's work. I don't think Floyd had a bad night - if he did - he would have lost.
Oscar was never the same after Money beat him. Once again, PacGwire loves feasting on Money's ruined leftovers.
