Did Floyd Mayweather Snr take Ricky Hatton backwards or forwards ?

That is completely besides the point. You started a thread trying to shift this BS onto Mayweather Sr. Hell I would have been with you had you said, "Maybe Ricky wasn't in the right mental environment to reach his potential." Mayweather is a counter puncher's coach. Ricky needs an offensive coach, like Roach.

Instead you went on to dropping technical nonsense. Hatton went into that fight fully aware of what was coming at him, "right hoou, roll unda". He went for the okie doke. Then when his coach was trying to help him buy some time by jabbing and moving the idiot went right back to the BS.

Had the dude used better head movement and kept his gloves up like he was on the phone, like he was told, he would have kissed the canvas no earlier than 6!

 

Ricky Hatton took himself backwards by hiring the trainer.

 

Hatton could have been trained by Freddy Roach against Pacquiao and he would still get his ass whopped.

 

I think Hatton on the big stage is just bad. I think he gets too revved up and tries to just walk thru his opponents with his power and against elite opponents, that isn't going to work.

 

Mayeather sr. definitely helped Ricky Hatton. He countered and battered Paulie Malignaggi from pillar to post. Against Pacquiao, Hatton just let himself get caught up in the heat of the moment and didn't follow his corner's directions.

 

I think Mayweather Sr took him backwards.

You only have to look at him in the Malignaggi fight.... alright the victory was impressive, but he wasn't as physically strong as he always was with Graham, and in the Pacquiao fight he was even worse, being manhandled quite a bit.

They had different ideas about weight making..... Graham got him down to 150 quite early, then spent six weeks shedding the last few lbs and increasing strength - only getting to 140 on the morning of the fight. Floyd had him down at 140 a few weeks before, which was bound to be a hindrance losing all that blubber so fast.

Not that it would have made much difference.

 

Snr spent more of that camp writing poems about Friddie Roach instead of teaching Hatton how to cope with a southpaw.

Obviously Mayweather over-estimated Hatton's ability to absorb and learn true skills that he raised his son to have.... but in the end, all it was a B rate barroom mauler w/ a boxer purist trainer who has no class. Thats DISASTER w/ a K (im not sure how that works but it sounds great).

I never bought into Hatton's record. England is notorious in building up records thru wimpy regional fights (well, they are on a series of islands i guess lol). He only looks somewhat good if someone's stupid enough to feed into his offense, which is technically lousy. Mayweather and Pacquiao REALLY exposed him for how he is, shoulda check the punchtrack numbers - VERY UGLY. Pacquiao just masterfully put him to sleep using 2 jab encounters. The third encounter he fainted out a jab and perfectly timed Hatton jumping straight and open, as he usually does, and clocked him with his left hook w/ full leverage. Insta-KO! (and he couldnt learn this obvious fallacy from his previous loss from Mayweather, and being taught by that defeater's dad? GOOD GRIEF)
