you realize if james tony does knock him out...on the level they are going to be promoting this fight as "BOXING VS MMA"...This could long term cripple the UFC and mma in general

 

i would love to see toney knock him out that would be great but what if toney wins by SUBMISSION???? that would be ****ing crazy

 

James is still funny as hell though.

 

I'd like to see James win as much as the next guy, but he's all wrong for boxers in MMA. I'm of the opinion that a true world class elite boxer can knock out just about any MMA fighter, but he has to be the right type of boxer. You need someone with lighting fast hands, and lightning fast in and out footwork, so they can get in, land a few quick bombs, and be back to a safe distance in a split second, avoiding a take down. I'm not a PacFan, but Manny Pac would kick all kinds of ass in MMA (in his weight class of course), Toney is way too slow and relies on head movement to avoid punches, he won't be able to move his feet and avoid the takedown. It's not his style.

This being said, I'll be praying for the KO just like the rest of you. Us boxing fans would never let Dana live it down. BOXING IS BEING SWALLOWED WHOLE my ass.

 

Toney-Haye would have been a good fight some years ago, especially at CW, and Toney would probably have stopped Haye back then. Toney would have been there for a hard 12 rounds, counterpunching the **** out of Haye after slipping these wide-ass Hayemakers and seriously testing Hayes stamina and chin.

Today I think Hayes speed and movement would be just too much for old man Toney and we might see an ass-whooping a la Roy Jones again..

 

Guys...this isn't a fight to slight boxing.Dana White didn't sign James to embarass boxing or prove a point.Toney stalked Dana from city to city jawing on and on about how he can beat any UFC heavyweight in the company so Dana is simply letting him put his money where his mouth is.If he really thinks MMA is killing boxing,that's his opinion but MMA has never outsold a marquee boxing event.If anything,they avoid scheduling cards on a good fight night for that fact.He moved a UFC event when he found out Pac/Mayweather might be scheduled on that nite so he wouldn't have to compete with it.

People need to stop looking at this as MMA vs Boxing because it isn't.It's James Toney thinks he can beat MMA fighters and talk a whole lot of **** while doing it, let's have him try and back that up. On a personal note,I hope Captain America beats the **** out of James for all the **** talking he's been doing.As long as he doesn't try and stand with James,he should be okay.

 

randy wil take james down pound hammer fists to the head and elbows and referee will jump within 2 minutes trust me us boxing fans prepare to be barraged by taunts that mma is better than boxing.
