Did we over estimate how badly Mayweather was hurt?

By now, we've all seen or heard about "Round 2".
When I first watched it, I thought Floyd was nearly out on his feat.
I then came across this video

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyCnk9PmXxM&playnext_from=TL&videos=CgdxdDstEqE&feature=grec_index[/ame]

which shows the second big shot from an angle I hadn't seen.

Shortly after the big shot, you can see a grin on Floyd's face and he shakes his head a little bit.

Now, I know boxers sometimes do that to indicate "you didn't get me" when clearly he got got, but in this case, I'm starting to believe a little bit that Floyd wasn't as loopy as we might have thought.

Larry Merchant said something along the lines of "he's not really hurt". I was pretty sure Larry was just being Larry and had just gotten done with a bottle of Jack, but maybe he was right.

There's not question Shane connected and defintiely affected Floyd's balance, but maybe he wasn't as close to la-la land as we might have imagined and if that's the case, does he deserve the credit for dominating the second half of that round?

In any event, I'm a hugger of Floyd's nuts on most days, but I really did enjoy this (new to me) angle.

    Ta!

When I looked at it over again, he recovered very quickly than I remembered on fight night. I think 10 -20 seconds after the 2nd buckle, Floyd had taken control of the fight and was firing back at Mosley.

Speaking for myself, it seemed much, much worse when I watched the fight live. That's probably because we've rarely ever seen Mayweather in trouble during his fights.

Yeah, plus the fact that those right hands were LOUD. With a fighter as cerebral as Floyd it wouldn't surprise me at all if he was tricking Mosley into punching himself out or looking for the big shot all night.

Floyd Mayweather looked insulted in his corner, i knew Shane Mosley had made a mistake not finishing him off.

He was hurt big-time, held on for dear life. But mosley was jittery didn't do a good job finishing him off.

floyd always smiles when he gets cracked...watch the chop chop corley fight, the judah fight, the augustus fight.etc...he is just acknowledging the fact that you popped him with a good shot

That's exactly what my brother said at the time. He was screaming at Shane to finish him off now while he had the chance, because he (Shane) won't have anything to find later on. I was in disagreement though, as I didn't want Shane to recklessly waste his energy in that round. Turns out he didn't do f*ck all, and was gassed any way!

But whilst I so think both of those right hands had Floyd seriously hurt (the second one more so), the most they could have done were knock him down as oppose to knock him out. Floyd recuperated brilliantly.

Yea, he had spaghetti legs for 10 seconds or so. Maybe his brain was telling him he was good but he was shook up for sure.

Floyd's fights where he takes a few big shots are usually his best performances. He takes it personally and becomes a beast afterwards. His fights are boring when he doesn't take any punishment and can just toy with his opponent.

Its funny how many people like to cling to..."He was nearly knocked out" When stayed on his feet and was winning the exchanges 10 to 20 seconds after the punch... It's amazing...

I think he was pretty hurt, but he coudn't show it. He's a professional with a lot to lose by losing his cool. It's depressing watching Nazim trying to revive Mosley as he sits there dejected with no energy.

He was definitely hurt, but so what. He's in as good or better shape than any fighter out there. He knew how to hold on to recover, and was back to top form 20 seconds later. Shane was just too freaking old to maintain a sustained attack. He lost before he got in the ring.

the second one was brutal.....but it showed how well conditioned his legs are...i mean anybody else with less conditioning at least touch the canvas witht heir glove...Floyd maintain balance and his strength kept him from goin down completely...thats some down conditioning right there
