Do you really envisage Pacquiao's kamikaze style working in his favour against a slick, unorthadox counterpuncher (and heavy hitter) like Hamed? I don't.

Manny would move straight in and would be picked appart in doing so. Style wise he's made to order for Hamed.

when was the last time you watched pacquiao? haven't you watched his rematch with barrera?

your argument is good, two months ago. but now, i don't see this stylistic problem for pacquiao anymore.

Come on mab was pretty shot in that rematch, i like pac and think he is a better fighter than naz but i think naz would ko him. For all naz's problems he was very quick and is possibly the hardest puncher ever at featherweight, if he tags pacman with a couple of his bigges shots he's getting koed.

****ing hell. that version of MAB was nothing special, he showed very little fight in there, and looked like he had only turned up for the paycheck.

that win means very little, especially compared to pac's first win over barrera.

do you honestly think pac could go in with those tactics against a prime barrera and come out on top?

"shot" is a very abused word when describing boxers that pacquiao fought. i wouldn't be surprised if marquez will be labelled "shot" if he losses to pacquiao on a rematch.

going back to the topic, i agree that pacquiao's one-dimensional style is a problem when fighting hamed. that is why previously, i am giving hamed an almost equal chance to beat pacquiao even if, as we all agree, pacquiao is the greater fighter of the two. but after seeing the way he fights against a defensive barrera, a pacquiao who picks his shot and doesn't rush in compulsively, i think hamed will have a lesser chance of stopping or beating pacquiao.

To be fair mab was well past his best and marquez is still giving beatdowns to other contenders so he is far from shot.

that version of barrera was still in the game until round 8 of that fight.

if pac knew how to fight that way before, i think he can employ those tactics and still come up winning because of his speed advantage. but if a "matured" pacquiao knows that he is tagging a barrera who is not running, he will more likely go for the kill, just like the way it happens during the first match.

i agree. but that barrera was still dangerous and could still upset pacquiao if pacquiao played into barrera's game of cat and mouse.

those who were used to seeing pacquiao steamrolling his opponents will think of it this way. but for me, seeing him change his style according to his opponents fight-plan (or flight-plan in barrera's case), is a huge improvement in his game.

    Facts:

    1. Pac is not 100% when he faced MAB. Amounting to only 7 weeks in training. ThePlug is correct in saying Pac is subpar.

    2. MAB chose to move more than deliver using every bit of experience he has acquired thereby avoiding a KO defeat ending his career in a positive light.

    Lastly,

    3. Pac really is evolving from a slugger to a smart boxer-puncher. His last fight is not a coincidence. Puga is correct here. But you have to admit Pac's lack of conditioning surely did help his cause.

Both of you are correct in your own points of view.

He might evolve into a smart boxer puncher but at the moment he is still a slugger the majority of the time and that doesn't work against naz.

he can certainly box now. if you have the time, please see his last match.

and i am only working on one side of the equation here. seeing the overwhelming reason for those who pick hamed is that pacquiao only fights one way.

I have seen it and outboxing an old mab doesn't make me think he has become a smart boxer puncher yet.

did you see how barrera wants pacquiao to come in so that he can unleash his combinations and counters? pacquiao was smart enough not to play into this trick. he just picks his shot, using right jab and darting in and out once he connected.

but since barrera is too old for you, none of this matters and pacquiao is still a slugger in your eyes. lets just wait for his next fight. :good
