    Ideally, there would not need to be any sanctioning body whatsoever. I think most boxing fans are intelligent enough to realize who the top fighter is/top fighters are and can tell a genuine contender from a paper one. That said, without some sort of sanctioning body, it would be very difficult for excellent fighters possessing an ugly style/unnentertaining style to get big time fights they deserve. The same could be said for excellent fighters lacking major management or promotion. Thus, one and only one sanctioning body could be a force for good in this sport.

    get a new title and call it "the real",that way when results are announced after the fight it will go "and still the real heavyweight champion,,,,"

    Showtime, H.B.O and Ring Magazine should join forces and create a belt and charge no sanctioning fees. That would eliminate the alphabet titles.

    only problem with that is the fighters in the top ten suck anyway then who cares if they're top ten?
