Why did Pac get a bigger share than Hatton?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by BewareofDawg, Jun 25, 2010.

  1. After seeing the numbers Mayweather did with Marquez and Mosley, and the numbers that Pacquiao did with Cotto and the near promotionless Clottey fight, I think it's safe to say that Ricky Hatton's drawing power in the US was grossly overrated and he should be damn happy with what he got. With a 24/7 and similar promotion, Pacquiao-Clottey would have likely sold more PPVs than Pacquiao-Hatton.

I remember people saying that Pac was scared of Hatton when he pulled this move off. Just like they say he is scared of Floyd now. some people never learn.

Pacquiao was p4p king, 5 weight champion, beaten legends like Barrera, Morales, and Marquez. Fighting Ricky Hatton. Hatton even went on about how Pac had the "p4p title" and he was fighting for it.

Pac deserved alot more than Hatton, he held out for just a little bit more out of principle.

Well, if purse split is going to prevent the fight everyone wants to see from happening, then I think it's a valid discussion.

After all, it was Pac's team who made the PPV buys a negotiation tool.

It was Pac who said he will not budge.

That goes both ways dude, Don't say Floyd is afraid of Pac because he is holding out for his demands to be met. Floyd DOES deserve more

No I just doesnt have to answer ignorant people like you who believes all crap about a fighter just because you are a fan. Its like Michael Jackson fans who claim he was the greatest human being in the world, and wont acknowledge that he was crazy as hell.

    Well lets discuss that then.

You agree boxing is a business right?
You agree that EVERYONE wants to make money?
You agree that Pac should get a bigger share than say.....Berto. You also agree that Oscar deserved more money than Pac, Floyd and Hopkins right?

On what basis did you decide that it was right for Oscar to get the bigger share than the 3 P4P #1 fighters he faced?

Listen, if splits were based uniquely on drawing power, then the split for Oscar vs Pac would've been something like 80/20. Instead, it was something like 66/34. So I'm not saying the better and greater p4p fighter should always get the better split, but I am saying that it matters. It can move the split, which is what happened in the Oscar fight.
