Roy Jones has to be the greatest fighter ever. Here's why..

I posted a thread earlier about how a fighter that's in shape and well fit with no body fat, can suffer severe weakness if they were to drop two or three pounds since they have no body fat, they have to give up muscle. But Jesus losing 25 pounds of muscle, not fat, pure muscle AND winning back the light heavy weight championship of the world by winning a decision against the best fighter at that weight at the time is one hell of a feat.

Now let's be real, who else in boxing history dropped 25 pounds of muscle and fought and won a belt against the best fighter of the division?! You are the man Roy!! But please retire now, you've accomplished enough!!

 

it was incredibly impressive BUT greatest is one hell of a stretch. top 20 is a bit of a stretch to be honest

have to say jones was NEVER on steroids. ever. he tooked ripped fuel, a weight loss supplement that was banned for risk of heart attack and stroke. was it banned? yes. was it a performance enhancer? no.

I respect your opinion! But it's a feat that even Ray Robinson or Ali would have never done. Not saying Roy is better, but no one has ever done that.

to be honest, from what i've read (i'm no expert and many on here can speak better on it) it's a fair comparison. not saying it's right and he shouldn't be penalized but some want to discount jones' victories and that's simply ridiculous

 

I replied in a thread earlier to a statement made about how Hopkins' best wins were against smaller men. I pointed out that his only real loss was against a naturally bigger man in Jones. That person tried to tell me that Jones was naturally smaller than Bernard. So if that's true, then he was just bloated at heavyweight, because he's naturally smaller than a light heavyweight. Therefore your statement about losing muscle is bogus. He's really a tiny, tiny man.

good post and good thread. i have to say harry greb performed feats that were even more impressive than this; beating the holy hell out of top middleweights all the way to heavyweights for a consistent period
