Sergio Martinez aka "Maravilla the Cherrypicker"

I had money on Pavlik that fight. Pavlik was taking over that fight...right up to that face tear.

I believe that this is the fight that ended Pavlik's career.

 

Mosley is gonna beat him though too

 

Why is this? Mosley is flat footed with no jab. Martinez is very mobile.

 

Sergio isn't retiring soon or at least I don't think he is so I don't blame him for trying to get a Hall of Fame name on his resume. I think every fighter is entitled to do this once. It becomes indecent when he develops a habit. But at this point Sergio hasn't shown signs of that. When your last three opponents are Paul, Pavlik, and Mosley, that's actually not a bad order.

ya like floyd fighting a blown up lightweight and then coming in over contracted weight, or pac making dudes starve themselves for catchweight fights , whatever dude

 

Mosley is a smart move for Martinez; good exposure, very winnable, would be a step toward a major fight. Some people are pissed because he took Pavlik's belt and he won't be able to get it back from Martinez because Pavlik won't be @ 160 anymore. Pav. had his shot at defending against Martinez and now he's moving on. Martinez won the fight and he's moving on. The fact they are moving in different directions on the scale just adds to the frustration of the Martinez critics.

 

Pavlik won't be @ anywhere.

He is going to get KO'd at 168. SMW is the deepest division right now. He couldn't beat Martinez, a weak LMW.

Pavlik is through.

 

I see your point and I also don't agree in Maravilla taking on Mosley, but what is more unacceptable is Floyd not fighting some of the fighters Maravilla has already fought against. Basically Martinez is still a 154lber, a real boxing fan will tell you Martinez is not a real 160lb fighter, and just because he relinquished his 154 title doesn't make him a real, natural 160lb after just one fight.

Also, before Mosley made his move back to WW, do you remember the weight Mosley was at? He was 154. I'm not defending Maravilla, because like I said, I also don't agree Martinez should be taking advantage of an older fighter in Mosley, but just telling it like it is. Maybe it won't be so much of a mismatch; maybe it will. Judging from their last fights, it seems like it might be a mismatch. Mosley has already proved he is still dangerous even at this stage in his career, but he is beatable and has been beaten by the best. I think now he is being used as a measuring stick to see if Martinez really is one of the best and belongs up their with names like Mayweather and Pacquiao. I don't agree with this fight, but if it happens I'll still watch it.

 

The truth is as plain as the nose on your face. Martinez lost to Williams at 160 and got knocked on his ass in the process. Next up, the most pathetic version of Pavlik in history won 5 rounds, blacked his eyes, and put him on his ass. Now he wants to fight old welterweights because it's profitable, and his days at 160 are numbered and he knows it. Pathetic. And defending such errant nonsense is reprehensible.

 

I predict that you are correct. But if Pav. continues to fight, I hope he gets back his old fire @ a more manageable weight. Wishful thinking.

If you are questioning the guys cajones, then why the hell did he fight these two guys in the first place? Williams, "the most avoided guy in boxing" and big bad Kelly Pavlik the guy who everyone said would pulverize Martinez?

 

Booradley completely lost his mind weeks before the Martinez-Pavlik fight as if he knew something terrible is coming. Now he's a bitter shell of a madman or a ghost seeking some perverse attention for his tombstone which reads "here lies my credibility". He's incapable of normal, quality argument.
