Losing ONE POUND can never in a million years weaken an adult male.

Miguel Cotto weighed in at 146lbs for his fight vs Joshua Clottey

He then weighed in at 145lbs for his fight vs Manny Pacquiao

Anyone who thinks that ONE POUND makes the slightest bit of difference to a 10st+ man is ******ed beyond belief, knows absolutely nothing about boxing, and has never, ever had to make weight for a boxing match.

ONE POUND to a guy of Cotto's size is a trip to the bathroom after a curry FFS! He could sweat it off in 5 minutes without much effort, and would immediately rehydrate it back on in another 5 minutes, while hardly even noticing he was doing it. ONE POUND would not have affected his training in any way whatsoever.

The reason Roach wanted it is not to make Cotto's training more difficult or to try and weaken him, because he (unlike most of the morons on here) knows that weighing in ONE POUND less than his last fight would not even come remotely close to achieving this.

Need I remind anyone that Miguel Cotto himself said he felt "great" at the weight after the fight???

The reason Roach wanted it was to try and limit the weight Cotto would rehydrate to by fight time. Cotto weighed 159 against Urkal, the most Roach figured Pacquiao could get his weight up to on fightnight is around 148. He made an effort to make Cotto weigh in a little lighter in the hope that he would rehydrate a little lighter than he would if he was permitted to weigh in at 147.

Now, making someone weigh in lighter is NOT a guarantee that they will rehydrate to a lower weight, but it is possible, so Roach took the gamble in the hope of levelling the playing field as much as he could, and because he knew Cotto would accept that stipulation.

End of story. Anyone who thinks ONE POUND can weight-weaken a man of that size seriously needs to die......t for a while :)D) and feel what losing one pound is like, then seek help for their dangerous levels of ******ation.

haha kind of a harsh post but i agree. one pound is ****. to be honest, depending on the size entire weight classes may not make a big difference. it all depends but one pound i absolutely agree is nothing

Harsh but necessary I feel, given the unacceptable displays of hideous stupidity on here over the last couple of days.

Coming from an idiot that has never cut any weight in their entire life. I'm not talking about a diet you started because your thighs rub together. I'm talking about cutting weight to make a low scratch weight for an athletic event.

If you had done it for real before no way you would start this thread.

Depends which pound it is, the pound when you are a fat slob or the pound when you are a skinny rake.

When you are a 10st+ man who used to fight at 140, and you weigh in at 146, then have to weigh in at 145 for your next fight, ONE POUND means absolutely NOTHING whatsoever.

i think its the process to get to that weight that is the actual problem.....not necessarily the weight itself

The process to get to a weight ONE POUND less than the process to get to the weight you successfully got to in your previous fight with no talk whatoever of weight-weakening?

Sorry, it's complete and utter bull**** of the highest calibre.

Assuming Cotto has to lose weight to get 147 and then TWO more pounds on top of that, is draining.

I think you must have 4-6% of a normal human brain if you think ONE POUND matters to a 10st+ man.

Cotto could easily train the exact same way he usually does to come in under the ww limit just like he did vs Clottey, not give a **** about making 145, then before the weigh-in work to burn off a single stinking pound, weigh in, then put it right back on again as part of normal rehydration. I've done it myself.

The very idea that it could weaken you is ****ing laughable.

Sorry, there is simply no way anyone can say ONE POUND in this scenario is significant. Absolutely no chance in hell. :good

Popkins ****ing **** up again. Epic.

Cotto fought competitively for awhile and showed the same kind of vulnerabilities I'd always see in him...Pacquiao beat one of the very best Welterweights in the world on the night.
