    Omar Henry vs. Hilario Lopez

    Round 1

Omar Henry is a force of nature. Hook, right, hook, right, hook, right, hook! Lopez gets off the ropes. Henry drives him right back. Body work from Henry. All the offense coming from Henry. Lopez' upper body leans back over the ropes under the assault, then he crumples to the mat. He gets up at six and says he's OK. Henry jabs at him, then a lead hook catches Lopez on the temple as he pulls back. Henry keeps jabbing his way in, barking like Juan Diaz. Jabs and right hands from Henry. Nothing in return from Lopez. Henry gets closer, and Lopez does open up a bit, with right hook to the body and a lazy left that sees him countered hard. Henry with a hard body shot, ducking and moving inside on Lopez. In and out goes Henry, leaving Lopez no clear target.

    10-8 Henry

Liked the triple left hook to the body by Henry. Good stuff.

    Round 2

Henry is all coiled strength, looking Tua-like. He slows down a bit this round, jabbing at Lopez and throwing power punches when Lopez flinches and breaks his guard. Lopez tries to jab and gets countered hard to the body and/or head every time. Lopez misses a crazy wild overhand left and winds up off balance, but Henry wound up behind him, unable to capitalize. Henry double-jabs and Lopez hits him with two lefts to the body. Lopez arm punching, a 1-2 combination that Henry blocks. Henry jabs to the face and uppercuts to the belly of Lopez. Henry ducks a sweeping left. 1-2 from Henry lands, and he misses a pair of follow-up rights. Henry ducks a right hook at the bell.

    20-17 Henry

    Round 3

Henry jabbing Lopez and walking out unmolested. Lopez times a couple of left hands that land but without much steam. Lopez turns orthodox. Both fighters missing a lot with right hands, their jabs colliding. They flurry at the bell, and Henry throws a punch just after the bell in the heat of it - catching Lopez right on the nose. Lopez groans to the ref.

He sure reminds me of James Kirkland. Can you imagine a round robin with those two and Angulo? 154 has some very intriguing, young pressure fighters.

Lopez has a pretty decent chin if nothing else

    Round 4

Henry with a 1-2, then another and Lopez down HARD from the right hand. He gets up and Henry plows his way into him, putting the top of his head against Hilario's chest and plugging away with either hand. Lopez pushes him off and throws lefts and rights without any clear pattern behind them, just trying to hit Omar and keep him from coming back in. Henry throws lead rights to the body. Lopez is a southpaw again. Henry gets inside on him and throws left hooks and right hands that bounce the head of Lopez around. Lopez somehow retains his balance, despite clearly struggling with his equilibrium. Henry lunges with a left hook that misses, and Lopez survives the round.

It should be 40-34 Omar Henry on all three cards; not a hard one to score.

At the same time, I'm not as impressed with his power as I had hoped to be. While Lopez certainly doesn't appear to have a bad chin, the flush shots Henry was able to connect with should have finished the job if he had concussive force behind them.
