"Just 2 tough as nail guys giving it all"? What more can be asked of two fighters?

It isn't the quality of the fighters that makes for a great fight. It is the quality of the action.

It's not the exact same image, but you're right - he did one of Marciano-Walcott (it wasn't that hard actually - just a forum search for posts containing the word "painting" by JETSKI and a thread in the Lounge popped up with a link to the site that displays his stuff for sale :D). Great minds think alike, it appears.

More nice work. He also has Pacquiao vs. Hatton and Clay vs. Patterson (although the latter isn't an action shot).

These were modern day classics because they were great fights with huge television exposure. However, let's not confuse classic fighters with great fighters ... Ward was a fringe contender at best and Gatti a well promoted alphabet champion at best. Ali/Frazier it was not.

Not to sound a ***** here he grant, but there's no need to remind us of the obvious. Nobody's saying anything otherwise to what you just said. It seems to be a pattern here that whenever any fighter from the modern era is given praise someone has to compare that fighter to somebody from the past who was better. Praise can just be given for what it's worth. Of course Ali and Frazier bring plenty more skill to their fights than Ward and Gatti, that's a no brainer. Another typical example is-

poster A- 'Floyd Mayweather is a great fighter'

poster B (totally out of context)- 'he's not as good as Sugar Ray Robinson was though'

who the **** said he was?

For me the first fight was a border line classic, but the 2nd and 3rd did not follow suit! For me it is mentioned in relationship to other great trilogies plus, but I find it lacking as a trilogy! I did again however enjoy the first fight immensely!

the only argument that can be said against them is that neither was 'a' class. gatti was a beltholder but his body of work did not place him at the top rung. ward never did make it to gatti's level.

that said it's no matter, those were fantastic fights and gatti, maybe even ward will make it into the hall of fame.

Im a big fan of the Foreman Lyle fight but if im honest it was exciting for 1 and a half rounds, an exciting 4mins to be truthful. But the morales and barrera fight was far better in my opinion, far better. As for gatti and ward, why wouldnt they be considered classics? 1 great fight and 2 very good fights. Ticks all my boxes

1)glad to be back on the classic! general forum is beyond **** lately

2)i'll go back and read this thread but i had to comment...YES! gatti/ward 1 is easily my favourite fight of all time and beyond thrilling. the 9th round is possibly the best in history. i haven;t seen half the fights that half the posters on here have but i've seen a couple and only a handful of rounds can compare to that 9th round and the fight as a whole is a brilliant story told with fists
