It's easy to say American heavyweights aren't that good...

You guys need to stop with the nationalist crap!

It's sad to think that someone would assume any form of superiority comes from the flag flying over your head. There are certain variables that create these poorly trained fighters, sociological and psychological variables NOT NATIONAL! I remember a time (1960-1985) when not a single European talent could barely make a reputable run towards a heavyweight title. Tables have turned, but not based on the point that a person is inherently better just because of where they come from. Calling anything "Euro-level" means nothing. In fact it's not even an indicator of talent. It only suggests that one continent is better, and to have that viewpoint is sad. Currently the strongest looking fighters appear to be strictly Eastern European from former Soviet Bloc countries and not British (or areas of Western Europe). No American, Eastern European, British, Australian, Japanese, or any other nationality is better then any nationality. You are full of crap if you even hint towards national superiority, it has no place in the ring. Your flag doesn't do your fighting, your body and mind does that! Get things straight, the only thing nationalities are good for is organizing us into competition for the Olympics and establishing our point of origin. Outside of that it has no place in this forum. There seems to be a certain poster today taking complete advantage of this kind of argument and it only wastes space on the server this forum is hosted on.

I completely agree with you Briscoe!

I should say though, that as a Brit, Americans have been slagging off our heavweights for decades.

Again, I completely agree with you, but it works both ways.

I didn't say that they aren't bad, they are. It's not because of the fact that they are American. Just wait till things shift in power and you'll be complaining about how your European talent is suffer to some extent.

Has anybody ever noticed that American heavyweight boxing has been suffering in general? Ever since the watershed mark of Ali/Frazier/Foreman/Holmes/Tyson things have tapered off. It's not the flag that makes you who you are as a fighter, though. And I'll never make an excuse for what is visibly suffering in terms of American heavyweights. Just to even argue over national superiority is a waste of time, and slanted.

I'm pissed at the people on both side of the binary arguing. My side and your side, I'm just thankful you get the jist of what I'm trying to say here.

I don't doubt it though, there's some Americans that love to shoot their mouths off and I'll get in their face about it too.

Good for you, joke about it while idiots keep wasting time yelling at each other about it. I've been told for years to ignore this kind of subject and let people pass on their way and for a time I did. However, it seems worse. Much worse to the point that posters think it's smart to base an argument upon it. I'm gonna say this: if I were a mod I'd start banning the hell out of anybody that did it, I wouldn't give a crap where they came from.

When there is a McDonald's on every corner in your neighborhood, it hard to train correctly.

You should remember that those criticisms of British fighters were as justified then as the ones against U.S. HWs are now. There was a reason that the term "Horizontal heavyweights" was used to describe British fighters historically.

I don't think that's the problem either considering there are McDs worldwide.

There can't be fat football players! Offensive linemen bulk up with massive amounts of muscle, and that's why they weigh 300lbs. It's not fat when you're a mountain of muscle.

We got every type of food, man. Chinese, burgers, pizza, man, they are inventing shite now. Places like Quatar, were there is money, 69% of the male are obese, 73% for the women. When u got everything u need, it is hard to go to the gym and train good. Ask Solis, and Arreola

    Why would I? It's true.

That said, I think there is WAY too much nationalistic crap on this forum, so in that sense, I agree with the OP.
