Is the Super6 good for boxing?

there would have been champions doing Calzaghe/Ottke style match ups with the Tocker Pudwils and Evans Ashira

This is the bottom line. That anyone could actually think that the best fighters in a division fighting each other is a bad thing is an indictment of some boxing fans today.

OP: next time you talk to this twat, ask him this:

Who would he have preferred Arthur Abraham to fight in his first three fights at SMW rather than Jermaine Taylor, Andre Dirrell and Carl Froch?

Who should Andre Ward have fought instead of Mikkel Kessler, Allan Green and Andre Dirrell?

This tournament is ridiculous cuz it pits a small cluster of elite fighters against each other over and over again. All the speculation and doubt predicated off of just one match is erased considering that they all have 1 degree of separation in every fight...
The winner is truly validated as the top SMW over the others... no questions

I voted no, because of the politics, not every real contender were invited ( Pavlik, Bute, Bika, Steiglitz....) thus, making the Super Six not quite as relevant as some people seems to think. I agree with the fondamentals of the best fighting the best to find the top dog. But until the tourney is over, it leaves nothing for Bute or Pavlik to fight against. I'm still sick about Bute loosing is time and forced to fight Brinkley, man, what a waste of time and sweat. Therefore, the S6 winner will still have to meet with the outsiders before claiming #1 spot. It should have been a wider range of boxers, let's say Super 10 or at least Super 8. But it's impossible, since Showtime and Sauerland brought this up, only their own fighters were invited. Still making a great tourney, but, some of us are left waiting for real things to happend for their guy.

The Super 6 is one of the best things to happen in boxing in a very long time. Anyone who's against it should re-evaluate themselves as a boxing fan and probably find a new sport.

 

Who wanted Bika and Steiglitz in? I don't see them adding anything. Pavlik was more interested in his 160lb crown and would have said "no", anyway. Bute would have been great but he would have to replace a European fighter and, at that time, his stock was lower than Froch's, Kessler's and Abraham's. I'd love to have seen him replace Green but I understand why he didn't.

Anyway, you can argue the Super6 hasn't been the success boxing wanted or expected, but it's still been good. Any time you get fighters of this calibre fighting each other, it's a good thing.

 

I think the idea itself is great. It's funny though because even though the results have been great, it has an underwhelming feel. I think it would benefit a lot by all three match-ups being shown on the same night. The fight quality hasn't been good, apart from Froch/Kessler, which was very good. The rest have all been underwhelming fights, especially Ward/Green and Froch/Dirrell, in particular, which was disgraceful.

I think Taylor leaving was a big problem as he was the name there. He brought the star factor which couldn't be replaced by any 168lber, except Calzaghe, Pavlik or Hopkins.
