Really? Can someone please post the "big" event he headlined and tell us the PPV numbers for said event? PLEASE! Margarito got KTFO on HBO. That is how "big" he was. :blood
there ya go +5 KEEPING IT REAL points Promoters do the matchmaking and also throw in all the prerequisites and concessions that stall up what is really should be a simple process. The only say-so fighters have is a Yes or No, and sign a contract. Thats why fighters cant call out other fighters in Postfight, because its the Promoters who dictate who their fighter is available to. Note when any fighter's asked who they plan on fighting next, they always default to saying its up to my management/promoter, cuz its true. And they get in trouble if they DO start naming names cuz that takes away power/say-so from their promoter... Hate the promoter, not the fighter...
arum can talk as much **** as he wants, its still up to pac if he wants to fight margarito and I don't think he will because Pac won't give that lying pos a title shot.
well, in another thread, someone jumped down my throat when i said Margorito wasnt a big draw back in his early/mid 2000's, which is true. Since he's been given the chance on the big stage, he does have a draw. It was pointed out to me that 17K people came to see his last lost. Though i wouldnt attribute all those to be Margo fans, he does have some big event street creds from his previous fights w/ Cotto and Cintron... Believe me, im no Margo fan and he should be perma-banned, but he does have believable draw because of the Cintron, Cotto, Mosley fights...
They were wrong for that. Margarito never has and never will be a big draw. At the beginning of his fame he was caught cheating and KTFO. What is he known for? Beating Cotto. Margo is done. Cotto is done. Cotto would be a fool for taking that fight this close anyway. Also he would be a fool for not having drug testing.
You want to know how, Bob Arum. That's how. He doesn't work with other promoters unless he absolutely must or there is an extremely large pot of money in it for him.
