    Scott Quigg

All of the above have more ability than Munroe, I won't get into achievments or rankings because some of these guys are just starting out but they clearly have more talent. I'm sure there are more figters at 122 who belong on this list but I can only go by who I've seen. I'm not even convinced that Munroe is the best in Britain at 122. You can look at his world ranking and say he must be world class but when you watch his fights it's clear that he is far from it.

Up until a few months ago you would have had Juan Manuel Lopez, Celestino Caballero and Bernard Dunne on this list also so Munroe's ranking is higher due to the thinning out of the division rather than his world class ability.

So why did you respond? I said that if Munroe was ranked on ability he would not make the top 10 and I'm right. He's not world class, that's the bottom line and everyone on that list has more talent than him. Sorry if that doesn't fit into your fantasy world where rankings mean everything and winning meaningless belts means more than actually having ability. Didn't you have Darren Barker in your top 15 middleweights not so long ago :nut

I probably despise the belts more than any other poster on here. its not my top 15 its Eastsides and he is not in there anymore.

So explain to me what defines ability considering you have a boxer in that list that lost to Munroe. To try and say that Frampton and Quigg have more talent and ability than Munroe is completely ridiculous they haven't even had an 8 round fight or faced a guy with a winning record. You can say they have more potential thats fair enough but theres a big difference.

Does being able to get through a tough situation like a cut, grind out a win not count towards "ability". How about coming from behind to stop someone or sticking to a game plan for 12 rounds when your up against a big puncher. Does none of that count.

If being able to throw a good jab and having a slick defence is what makes you world class then theres hundreds of world class fighters that haven't reached the level of Rendall Munroe and theres guys on your list that won't make that level either.

The OP never mentioned his criteria for the rankings but if we're talking about wins, then no question Froch is in the top 3. I wasn't going by wins but by who I think is the better fighter right now.

Kesslers win over Froch is nowhere near as debatable as Froch's win over Dirrell. On a poll the day after the fight, about 80% of people on the Brit forum thought Kessler had beaten Froch. Only Froch's family and friends thought he'd won.

    :lol::lol::lol:

So? I reckon Groves has more talent/ability than Froch. Doesn't mean Carl's not world class. Doesn't mean Groves will have as successful career as Carl.

Well isn't that convenient for you then, as you would be forced to concede that Munroe is in the top ten at super bantam.
When you compile top ten lists, generally you compile them on achievement. That's why prospects don't figure on these lists, as it makes an already speculative, subjective process that much harder.
Btw the Ring has Munroe at number six in the world.

    Who is then?

Again so ****ing what? The mass exodus that the super bantamweight has seen recently is hardly a unique, unseen phenomena.

Futhermore do you have some sort of alarm that goes of when Munroe or Barker's names are being mentioned?
Because anytime they may be in danger of being overrated you seem to be on the case pretty sharpish.
If you dislike British fighters so intensly maybe you shouldn't post in the British forum.

First off, don't tell me what forum to post in. My point, which cannot be disputed, is that Rendall Munroe is not world class. He has never shown world class potential, he struggles with nobodies at Euro level and in my opinion lost the Maludrottu fight. Pointing out that there are many superbantams in the world today who have more talent and world class atributes than him, even the novices like Frampton and Quigg, may be hard for you to take but it's the truth. My list was not where I would rank the fighters but who has more ability, I'm not saying that everyone on the list will definitely make it to world level but that they have more talent than Munroe so read my previous posts before you reply.

Oh and Jason Booth is better than Munroe, I don't think he would drop rounds to Trotta or Matiroysan.

Just for the record, do you think Munroe is world class?

I had Maludrottu winning that fight by 2 rounds. Would it be ridiculous to say that Frankie Gavin has more ability than someone in his division who hasn't got one meaningful win at domestic level and who struggles badly with part time boxers because despite Munroe's ranking that basically sums him up.

The ts asked who is truly world class, to say Munroe is even near this because he can grind out a win and stick to a gameplan is ridiculous, pointing out that there are novices with more abilty than Munroe is not half as ridiculous.

So he has some good domestic wins and he doesn't struggle with poor European level boxers? I get that some of you like Munroe but you're fooling yourselves if you think he's anywhere near world class. His best win is over Martinez who has been shown up to be pretty average himself. I don't get why he is rated so highly by some of you.

Some of the replies on this subject highlights the confusion between world ranked and world class, I mean at one time John Duddy was rated inside the top 10 with 3 of the sanctioning bodies, as high as no. 2 with one of them. Is he now or was he ever anywhere near world class?

Well if you read back one of my previous posts I clearly state that I think Munroe is a good Euro level fighter. And we all know the sanctioning bodies rankings are skewed, that's why we hardly ever bring them into discussion.

Well why do you post here if you have such an overwhelming dislike of most British fighters?

Well it clearly can be disputed considering we're not exactly seeing eye to eye on the matter.

And I would say he performed badly in a couple of those softish Euro defences. 'Struggles' suggests he was in danger of losing those fights.

I thought he shaded it by a couple.

It's not hard for me to take as i'm not really that big a fan of his to tell you the truth.

I did read your post. All you keep waffling on about is 'ability' this & 'talent' that. You've failed to acknowledge the qualities which have made Munroe, wait for it, such a success story. That's right I said success. Fitness, desire, unparalled physical strength (at the weight), durability ...

He clearly ain't pretty but he's most definitely effective.

And I don't think Munroe would've been pushed so close by Marsh. Swings and roundabouts.

I don't think he's world class. But I do believe him to be world 'level'.

We have Good fighters, guys like David Haye, Carl Froch in the whole bigger scheme of things are just good fighters.

We don't have any great fighters at the moment.
