Prior to the start of the S6 Kessler had some good wins under his belt. Each of the other 5 fighters claimed his best win over a Pavlik left over, or someone not as good as Pavlik's left overs.

Jermain Taylor had been knocked out in two of his previous 4 fights. He lost to Pavlik twice in two different divisions. His record at SMW was 1 win - 2 losses. After he dropped out Showtime replaced him with Allan Green who, at age 30, still has not beat a top 10 SMW.

Carl Froch's best win was a hail mary KO over two-time Pavlik victim Jermain Taylor.

Andre Ward's best win was Edison Miranda. Pavlik destroyed Miranda and Bute put him to sleep right quick. Ward went 12 rounds with Miranda.

Abraham had to fight Miranda twice. It took him 16 rounds to do what Pavlik did in 7 and Bute did in 3.

Dirrell's best wins were Hanshaw and Oganov. Former Pavlik and Bute victim Fulgencio Zuniga utterly destroyed Oganov long before Dirrell got to him. Hanshaw was a good amatuer, but he was never anything special as a pro.

No -- the S6 was never about the best facing the best. It was about creating an illusion, and marketing it to a rather gullible boxing-public. The fact that fighters were excluded on the basis of cost proves that.

this is the best opinion over the S6 value. Just that they are in the S6, dos not make them the best 6 SMW. Taylor was ****, Green is ****. Andrade will give big problems to Froch or Abraham in my opinion.

Even Froch should be higher with a loss, at least he is fighting A level talent. Bute is SO unproven and I think B-Hop is going to make some Bute fans cry if that fight comes off..............:deal

There was a post on here recently asking who the number 1 SMW was, either Andre Ward or Lucian Bute. I voted for Ward as he beat the man previously considered as number 1 in the division (Kessler). He also dismantled Green over 12 (although i dont think Green is in the same class as Ward, the margin of victory was impressive nonetheless).

But i really cannot understand how anyone can place Bute above him. Dont get me wrong, the guy is super talented and ive enjoyed watching his recent fights, but i dont get how anyone can place him as number 1.

In my opinion Froch, Dirrell and AA would all be undefeated if they had fought Bute's opponents, and Kessler would have dispatched them all as well. So can some1 please tell me how can he be considered number 1 after beating Bika, Andrade and Miranda? At best the guy should be at number 2 no?

Bute has no wins over anybody significant. This is just more of the same, "Let's make this nobody a star even though he hasn't beaten anyone syndrome" that's so pervasive in today's world.

Because those were his last four fights before he fought Ward.

Kessler was the favorite and the #1 contender coming into the tournament, but he wasn't "the man." If he was the man, then Ward would be #1 without question. But anyone who thinks he was the man is ignorant.

Bute was out and in absolutely no condition to continue. such a thing has never happened to one of the five super6 startup members yet. at least not from a legal punch.

Many said that miranda won the first AA fight. if that true ... the competition is very tight in the S6....as tight as Belladonna`s ass :admin

Kessler was only the favorite at the beginning of the tournament, not the man of the division but marketing had mixed the two. With the Calzague leaving (the man of the division), the tournament would be the best opportunity to crown a new true champ but Showtime has prefered to make politics, marketing strategy to please at their american audience and don't invited Bute. I suspect also Showtime to remove Bute and also Bika, for giving more chances for their american fighters.
In my book, not sure that Froch wins over Andrade and Miranda.
not sure than the 2010 version of Kessler wins over the 2010 version of Andrade.
But I agree, if Ward wins fairly over Dirrell, he will be the new number one.
Ward has dominated Kessler but won fearly?... in my book, this headbutts was not accidentals...

very good point. I have sayd "for years" that Andrade will give big problems to Froch and AA. Taylor Done...Green Done ! wtf? S6 is all about money,not about the best fighting the best, is about creating an ilusion of that !:bart

Now Green is considered a legit fighter only because he's part of the S6. A Bute - Green fight is a bigger mismatch that Bute - Miranda but there are people who claim Green would give a hard fight to Bute.
If you search for a pool Bute - Stieglitz, only hardcore Stieglitz fans and Bute haters vote for an upset. But if Stieglitz was part of the S6 he would have had like 50% of votes or more. People think: "He must be awesome if he's part of the S6". They are the best only because they participate in this tourney. They take that for a fact. IMO Stieglitz > Green.
It's like one man (Bute) ruined the play of other 6 (make it 7 now). That must be frustrating!
