think thats a good fight but I personally cant see it happening. I still think Spike is best suited to 154. I thought he looked poor against Healy at middleweight and i dont think pascal collins wants him to move to 168.
also, anyone know what happened with spikes Frank Warren deal. Thought it was pretty much signed but i havent heard anything in a while?

I have to say Kavanagh has nice ring movement he will be very elusive. His style is certainly going to be a nuisance for his next opponent. And what I like most of all his how calm and confident he is. Actually kind of similar in some ways to the Jackal!

don't know what the story is with andy Lee but Macklin is supposed to be fightin Barker for the EBU strap Frank Warren won the purse bids about 2 weeks ago and apparently if he wins that he'll get a title shot at the WBO strap (i think its WBO its vacant after Pavlik and Pirog and N'dam D'jikam are meant to be fightin 4 it i think its them anyway?) he was also given an IBF eliminator with Giovanni Lorenzo but they have threatened to take that deal off the table if he goes ahead with the Barker fight so he has a decision to make but but both are apparently world title eliminators just whichever route he wants to take personally i think the IBF route is easier but i'd love to see him drop Barker vacate the title straight after leaving it there for Andy Lee (in an ideal world:hey)

Very solid performance from Kavanagh. You can see that he was a good amateur by the way he boxers and uses angles. Timing of his punches was very good also. Even though it was only four rounds, he still kept up the same pace throughout so his stamina seems to be decent.

The raw materials are there but he still has to work on many aspects of his game also. A common thing with experienced amateurs is their ad******g to put more power in their shots, power is not nearly important in the ams. So hopefully we can see him with a bit more pop in his punches in future fights.

Style is very easy on the eye, sky is the limit for this kid.

Kavanagh looks like he has some class and he was really working the angles. He will need to tighten his defence - but you have to be very happy with his work in only his second pro fight.

Sorry to hear about Duddy's loss, I used to be a huge fan. But,Maybe because he was such a crowd pleaser, He always looked better (when he was on his game) than he really was. But at any rate, he came thousands of miles away from his home to give it his best shot, just for that he deserves respect (James Moore As well). Also from the written fight account, he had a few good rounds and staggered Chavez a bit. Chavez seems like a good kid and was gracious in victory, nice to hear!
Maybe the guy who's reputation was enhanced the most is Freddie Roach. His stock always seems to be going up! He seems able to get the most from any fighter. Any Irish Kid who wants to try his luck over here should forget about Gleasons and anyplace else, and head straight for the Wild Card Gym.;)

Jenna, calm down FFS, fine, everyone has been warned, good for you but banning a guy for warning others not to ask for illegal streams is pathetic.Isn't that what you are doing? telling us not to use illegal streams.

This is one of the best threads on ESB with real ,knowledgeable, well mannered boxing fans.Theres no need to threaten to close it, i think the lads get the message:verysad

Right lads, was talking about this on another site.

Willie Casey v Paul Hyland for the EU and Irish title at the end of the year or start of next year. What do ye think? Be a great fight imo. I don't think Paulie could handle Casey's relentless pressure. I think he would drag him into a war and beat him.

    Who have ye got?

Casey may be a one trick pony so I'll go with Paul Hyland for now but maybe if I saw more of Casey I'd change my prediction as I've only seen him in prizefighter.

What ive seen of casey hes fairly one dimensional and I think hes there to be outboxed if the opponent is good enough. If Hyland got dragged into a war i could see casey winning but if paulie stuck to his boxing he wins. tough to fight to call and one id like to see.andy lee undercard in UL in "the fall"

    @ The Fall

What on earth possessed him to say that? :nut

That would be class though, although unlikely. Lee is prob gonna stay stateside for a while it seems. It could be a Pro Box Live headliner. Murray/***an was one so I don't see why it couldn't happen.

I see what you are saying about Casey being one dimensional but Hyland isn't exactly Ali. The guys he fought in Prizefighter were about the same level as Hyland and they couldn't keep him off. I'd love to see it happen. :bbb

haha fitzgerald is a bit of a joke it seems.got knocked out by some latvian in his 3rd fight.just looking for a bit of publicity,I doubht he would actually take this fight, can see him getting knocked out.healy had him in serious trouble in the last couple of rounds back in february.he knows spike is a light middle although I have spoken to spike before about this and says he would have no problem in taking fitzgerald on.

Well said Mike:thumbsup, Duddy is a true Irish warrior that we can all be proud off.And talking about warriors, your favourite Irish heavy Martin Rogan is waiting for the all clear to fight again after his surgery. He's apparently in light training and should be back in the ring by September.

Egan, Nevin and Joyce to fight in WSB

    Tuesday, 29 June 2010 08:31
Ken Egan, John Joe Nevin and David Oliver Joyce have been signed up by teams from Miami, Paris and Delhi ahead of the AIBA sanctioned World Series of Boxing (WSB) which begins next November.
The Irish Irish trio were amongst 175 boxers from 64 countries on offer to 12 city-based franchises from the Americas, Asia and Europe at today's WSB international draft in London.
Light-heavyweight Egan, who is presently in Uganda working with the Children's A-Z charity, was snapped up by Miami, who will face Boston in their opening match.

Nevin, who claimed bantamweight bronze at the 2009 AIBA World Senior Championships in Milan, was the first choice of the Paris based franchise. Paris will meet Moscow in their first outing.
St Michael's Athy lightweight David Oliver Joyce, the current European Union champion, will line out for Delhi versus Baku in November.
Beijing Olympian John Joe Joyce, who has also signed up for the WSB, was not selected in the draft.

IABA President Dominic O'Rourke and IABA Chief Executive Don Stewart attended the international draft at the Millennium Kensington Hotel in London on Monday.
