As a relative newbie to the sport, what fights would any of you recommend that would get me into it and become a fan?

go to youtube and click onto the highlights of Fedor, you'll be amazed at what this guy did in his prime. I'be been watching MMA for about 4-5 years and thought I saw everything but that video showed me why people make such a big deal about him.

I'm assuming you have seen many from the UFC so I'll try to dig deep. I wouldn't consider my list "The Greatest" because I'm still a newbie but these are some favorites of mine.

    Fedor/Nog 1 and 3
    Hong Man Choi/Don Frye
    Fedor/Rogers
    Nog/Bob Sapp
    Silva/Jackson 2
Rua/Jackson (a nice beat down.. Rua breaks Rampages ribs with knee strikes in the clinch)
Sakuraba (Another pro wrestler like Lesnar ;))
    Royce and Renzo Gracie

Try to download the Pride Decade dvd. Their are many other fights and everyone's view will be subjective. For instance, I like watching GSP and can watch his rematch with Penn over and over.

I watched a brilliant Pride fight recently:

    Nick Diaz v Takanori Gomi

Watch PRIDE FC. Stay away from UFC fights or you could become a zuffa zombie.

Does anyone think that Nick Diaz's pot consumption helped numb some pain during his fight with Gomi? A doctor believed this to be true apparently.

Cant find the full fight for some reason but Frye Vs Takayama is a classic, not so much for skill

By far the most entertaining MMA fight of ALL TIMES. This fight was pure carnage. It never gets boring to watch.

i agree mate, its the epitome of a war, ****in ace

  14. Mate even the shows were far better in pride than the UFC, huge crowd (over double the UFC), huge fireworks, huge show.

PRIDE ENTRANCE - plus youve got the screaming lady + its great to see a fighter focused entrance/show with the fighters background.

Best entrance in the world!!!!!!! Seriously i get tingles when i watch PRIDE shows and you see the fighters entering one by one. Its like the ultimate gladiatorial experience for me. Completely pistol whips the UFC.
