Agreed. I would love it if Groves fought Degale soon, I reckon you would get good odds on Groves and I would put a decent amount on him. I think he is comfortably better than Degale in just about every aspect of the sport. The only one that I am not sure on is chin...neither really tested. The other two who make up our best 3 prospects are Tony Bellew and Frankie Gavin. I was most excited about Billy Joe Saunders when the Olympians all turned pro, to me he looked like the one who would comfortably switch to the pro ranks and had a style more suited to it than the others. Sadly he has looked sloppy and ill prepared in the ring. Too heavy and does not have the power to make his style of fighting work. That power would be more noticeable if he dropped down in weight category.
We've got some good prospects coming through. Next few years will be fun, see how they all turn out. My favourites are Quigg, Gavin and Groves.
Stephen Smith is the top prospect in the country for me. Everyone will be on the hype after he beats Simpson.
BJS needs to sort out his weight issues and I don't think he has good enough power. Plus he has problems with his hand? Gavin looks the best atm. I just hope all these ' prospects ' are properly tested and soon.
think you all taking john simpson too light!! nobody gets an easy night from him and a couple of his defeats were dubious decisions. so far smith not fought anyone near the caliber of simpson.
I said when he turned pro that gypsys always show promise as amateurs but lack dedication and got slated on this forum. so far he and Fury have done nothing to prove me wrong. Both overweight, soft around the middle and look under prepared.
with what i've seen of smith i rate him too but i just think people don't realise how good simpson is and think he an easy option. think smith would have been better with a few more fights first and maybe even one with trusscot then on to simpson
Yeah, now he knows what to do I think he will win the rematch as well. And you couldn't remember what the main event was?
