Very artful the way that Martin just obliderated the bear. Liston was KO'd by a guy who had a whole whopping 18 kos in 30 wins and was under 200 lbs..

Martin was an unlucky guy, never got a chance to cash in on his biggest win

"He had suffered a detached retina during the fight, and was forced to retire before he could capitalize on the biggest win of his career."

Liston was old, washed-up and gassed, this fight has no relevance to peak Liston.

Very artful the way Liston, several years past his prime, hung in there, dropped, and outpointed a good fighter who was seven years his junior before getting caught. He also ended Martins career in this fight.

Martin was actually well inside the Ring's Top 100 Punchers ever.

Since you know the holes in your "stated" position, I'm just curious about your motive ? You're obviously not making a credible case for smaller heavyweights or against Liston. Just stirring the pot ?

Yeah, for knocking out Liston, pretty much. Only place I saw him use his power.

Many ageing top fighters have been knocked out by guys of a lesser calibre than Leotis Martin.

Exactly ,and Martin hit a bit harder than his record suggests.

Ok, so you've seen him display power in one out of two bouts.

Yep.. I'm looking at his record and he didn't really KO anyone worth mentioning and he doesn't have a very high percentage.
So no, he wasn't the best puncher. He just made a name out of himself by KOing Liston.
