Yes but No. First I thought no because of his style, but then I realised his power is his best attribute and he was the only guy to truely ROCK mayweather. So then I leaned towards a YES.
That's true but he does rely on his power too much especially for a guy that's not a one-hit ko artist. He hits harder than you think remember he's the only man to ko Margarito and even hurt DLH a few times and he hurt the bigger Wright with a bodyshot. I'd say he's probably an accumulative ko puncher.
:goodThat's right but power has always been something he's always relied on. In his lightweight days he would overwhelm people with hard, fast combos that were very beautiful to look at. When Robinson threw combos every punch hurt and that goes the same for Mosley though out of his prime he would occassionally throw pitter pats but out of nowhere follow up with a huge shot.
He relies on his power alot because he is old and both his speed and stamina are not what they once were, thus he has to use more power. As far as the Margo fight goes, he landed a ridiculous amount of haymakers, I mean he was winding up and loading up the entire fight, I'm surprised Margo took so many heavy shots. As for Oscar, Shane's speed really bothered him more than anything else, and allowed him to load up and land heavy shots.
Earnie Shavers was a knockout artist. Wilfredo Gomez was a knockout artist. Shane Mosley is a guy who can 'punch well with either hand'. There's a difference, so i vote no.
The average boxer wouldn't have lasted that long against those many shots so much credit to Marg's chin. Oscar did fight Shane's fight and that's what messed him up but also made that fight so great. Shane's definitely no one-hit artist but I can see a case being made for him being an accumulative puncher.
In his younger days, Shane used great speed, and broke fighters down with accumulation, he didn't just stand flat-footed and wing telegraphed punches.
Shavers & Gomez were one hit ko artist so they could take a guy out with many shots. Foreman was a puncher no? He, like Shane take guys out using accumulative punishment though there's no comparison on each other's power lol.
No, he doesn't. I always thought of him as a good puncher, but that's it! He's no where near the spectacular one-punch KO artist some of you silly jackoffs make him out to be.
Very True, Margo soaked up alot of punishment that night, at 135, I would say Shane had 1 punch power but not at 147 where he still good power.
Yeah he would get in and out using his jab to set up bigger shots. Forgot to add that thanks but I was right that he did overwhelm guys with speed & power in his prime.
