Was Barrera prime when he first fought Pacquiao?

Some people will claim a fighter was not prime as soon as they get beaten, the second most annoying claim next to the "exposed" claim.

 

mab was in his prime. coming off a series of wins before and after that fight. arguably pac's best win in his career so far, the fight that really puts him in the ranks.

 

Yes he was. people forget after pac whooped him, Barrera went on a 6 fight win streak with wins over morales(again), Rocky Juarez 2x, Paulie Ayala, Robbie Peden and a close controversial loss to prime JMM.

he was absolutely past his prime when pac beat him and was again at his peak when Juan Manuel Marquez beat him....:rofl:rofl:rofl

 

i dont think people are sayin mab was shot but he clearly wasnt on that night he looked tired after 3 rounds it was clear he didnt trin properly and had other things on his mind but you gottarespect him willin to fight and not only that refuse to give up

but i gotta question after barrera beta morales in their third fight barrera had a rematch clause for pacquiao why wouldnt pac fight barrera when he said he wanted the rematch?

 

Barrera had like 60 fights and even IN THE FIRST MORALES FIGHT jim lampley even said: "how much does barrera have left" or something like that..

Barrera WAS NOT in his prime..he was game though..

 

This would apply to MAB if people wouldn't have agreed that he wasn't the same fighter after Morales-MAB I..You weren't following boxing back then...you don't know.

MAB clearly showed a decline in 2001.

Please watch Kelly, Tapia vs MAB and compare it to any pre Morales fight...obviously with the xception of the JJ fights.

 

Getting knock down on the canvas isn't really a pretty good way of dealing with speed.

Manny Pacquiao beat the **** out of your hero Oscar "the fishnet" Dela Hoya. Deal with it.

 

When MAB faught Kelly and Tapia after the 2nd Erik Fight Marco was evolving into a smarter fighter (Post Naz). When he faced EM he was showcasing his transformation against his equal and after the win he was without a doubt considered the best in his divsion. Marco was a lot better b/c of his experience with EM even with how brutal their fights were. not everyone declines after a war...some get better and learn a lot from the experience and become better....as in the case with MAB and EM.

 

HEY!:twisted: DLH didn't wear fishnets! it was clearly photo shopped!:smoke And DLH wasn't in his prime or at his ideal weight. With that said PAC beat the **** out of him and faced a similar DLH that Floyd struggled to beat. So it was still very impressive.

 

I for sure wouldn't call him peak, but he was towards the end of his prime in my opinion.

 

100% prime, he just wasn't on the ball for that fight but you can't take away nothing from Pac.

 

Saying the De la Hoya Pacquiao beat was the same as the DLH Mayweather beat is like saying the Marquez Floyd beat was similar to the Marquez Pacquiao beat.

Both were miles off.
