    Agreed mate.

They need to get some more shows in Leeds..... I know that the pavillion has been knocked down near the stadium, the guy that put the shows on there has been beaten to a deal at the tennis centre by the Thai boxing gym at Armley.

Not sure where else they could have them :think

Are they not building a new pavillion on the site? I'm sure I read that Bates wanted to increase the capacity of it from 1500 to 3000 and have it ready a month or two into this season?

I'm still hoping for the possilbe Sykes/Johanneson fight to be at the town hall :yep.

If the Leeds Arena is still on schedule, then i'm sure they'll get some big events booked there.

They might be, it's been a while since I drove that way to the motorway..... they probably will be if they want it to be ready by then.

Sykes vs Johanneson would be quality, they might hold it on neutral turf at the Frontier in Batley..... then everyone will go to Morley for a beer and a rumble

They've pulled down the old uni building near the Stick & Twist.... last I heard it was going to be there. It's the best site they've got I think for the size of it, any bigger and it would have to be at Skelton Grange or something. Don't want it at the bottom of my street

Yeah I heard that was the site, but then i heard Sheffield MP's were trying to stop it going ahead because it would take custom away from Sheffield Arena (Afterall, they have only had about 20 years of punters from this area :patsch).

Yeah, they're definitely re-building the Pavillion. Just done a quick search. Scheduled for completion on 17th September 2010. Capacity increased from 1400 to 2700.

Let's hope they get some boxing back there!!

Leeds should have had an arena years ago.

I remember when the residents blocked the proposed snooker/darts venue on Old Lane because they didn't want people roaming the streets at closing time and had concerns over young people gambling because they were going to have a games room..... it was basically a new working mens with all the trimmings and the developer claimed to have Barry Hearn on board to stage the snooker world championship there and a PDC darts tourney.

So all those horrible units and the Nettos would be pulled down and redeveloped yet people objected on noise grounds.....

    :patsch

I've heard all sorts of rumours that half the stadium is coming down over the next ten years or so and being made into a 50k all seater..... they'll have a job with the South Stand.

That sums Leeds up to be honest mate. Years and years of missed opportunities and the council happy to tread water and do nothing about it. The arena thing is a nonsense. It's taken them 15 years to get to this stage :patsch.

I've heard the same about the ground. The South Stand can't be touched because of the housing and main road behind it. It will look a bit like Boca Juniors stadium if they go ahead with it. 3 massive stand and then a random tiny one.

Big gamble stacking a card that only hardcore boxing fans would be interested in to boost a one off PPV event. Do not expect to see much of Frank between now and sept. 18th as it's difficult to do much whilst spending the majority of the day praying with all your fingers and toes crossed

Cleverly being put in with Murat?

I find that unusual at this stage of his career, fair play to him for stepping up to the plate.

It is likely that 2 or 3 of these fights will be cancelled/postponed, but it's still an above average card.

I actually want to see Chisora vs. Sexton, Brook vs. Jennings, Cleverly vs. Murat and of course Macklin vs. Barker.
