Was Barrera prime when he first fought Pacquiao?

very close to his prime, Barrera wasn't in his best shape though

 

Nothing can be taken away from Pac, MAB was not his best that night but Pac showed up and took it to him... It is hard to pull it together for every fight, especially when you fight the opposition MAB did.:yep

I'd say he was closer to being in his prime, than closer to being out of his prime. MAB strung together a pretty impressive string of wins after being battered by Pac. But it's not like it would've mattered anyway, Pacquiao whoops him regardless.

 

No,but neither was morales and morales still won,give pacq some credit.If Roach sets up the fight,he thinks you're on the decline,he said so himself several times.

But when Pacq fought Singsurat,Singsurat was in his prime and beat **** down Emanuel's leg.He quickly ate a dog and moved up in weight class never to **** with Singsurat again.

Im sure Singsurat knows he was lucky to have faced that version of PAC vs today's version.:yep I doubt he wants a rematch even for the payday.

 

Didn't Roach say he thinks Mayweather and Pacquiao will fight not too long after he said Floyd's legs were gone? Just saying.....

 

Barrera was still a great fighter but definitely past-prime.

IMO his physical apex was the second Morales fight whereas mentally he might have reached his prime against Hamed.

This was still a great win for Pac, no doubt, and whether or not the outcome of MAB/PAC would've ever been any different will be debated for years but keep in mind that Pac was supposed to be a "tune-up" while MAB's focus was on the Morales trilogy.

No doubt in my mind Barrera did not focus or trained against PAC the way he had done against others(ie, Hamed, Morales and Jr Jones 2).

This was supposed to be a stay-busy fight against a little known fighter moving up in weight............................and the rest as they say, is history!

i tend to agree, but barerra understimated pacquiao because he thought he was just another hamed. then, he got the worst beating of his life just like oscar.
