I've been advised to become a switch hitter instead of just a SP....any tips or advice? Great fighters to watch? Thanks.

Marvelous Marvin Hagler. Southpaw that switched a lot. Guys wouldn't even notice then BOOM! Straight right.

Riiiight. Try learning to box in one stance before switching or you'll end up a complete mess.

Master your current stance first, other wise you will be average-good at both rather than great at one or both.

I think its a great idea, one is better of knowing how to fight in as many ways as possible.. as brendan ingle once said he teaches 8 ways of fighting...orthodox, southpaw, side way ODox, side ways Spaw, square on etc

i believe alot of thai boxers follow this same philosophy of fighting

You ask too many questions. Do you actually have a coach?

Yes, I have a coach, two coaches infact. I just like some of the answers on here too. The more opinions the better. The more things I can try out and see what works, the better. The tip about mastering one stance first is good....I'm still going to work on my origional and main stance of course but just start working orthodox a little too.

For things like this having lots of opinions can be a bad thing.

Most boxers are orthodox so maybe it would give you that awkward stylistic edge. People aren't use to boxing southpaws.

If you are a natural southpaw why would you wan't switch?

Well I feel fairly comfortable from both stances. Southpaw I feel best but I can work on my orthodox. It is useful in terms of confusing an opponent and incase of an injury.

Yeah because if you get injured you'll probably have to resort to beating everyone with one hand because you are that good.

    Overrated.

When you can starch 99% of the guys you come up against without breaking a sweat? Then learn to switch hit. However if you can do that.... Why switch hit?

It is hard enough perfecting fighting from one stance.
