Should Bute have been counted out against Andrade?

It should've been stopped. The rule is that you cannot be saved by the bell in any round including the 12th and final round (Jim!), and in every case the ref must check and decide whether you're in a condition to continue. It's totally irrelevant if it's the last round with no time left, though up on his feet, Bute was clearly in no condition to finish the fight.

The ref, in every case, must check the fighter and make a decision and the timekeeper must wait for that before ringing the bell, so it is not true that the fighter just has to get up and he's OK. If it was the middle of the round, the fight would've been stopped due to Lucian's terrible shape, and the same rules apply for the end of the 12th. Marlon Wright, knowing that Andrade cannot possibly get to Bute, clearly made a terrible decision to let the fighter continue and hear the bell. He robbed Andrade from a clear TKO victory.

 

i think the ref had technical recourse to stop the count (though a LOT of referees don't) and reissue the ten count. for example, as someone once pointed out, mosley did not go NEAR a neutral corner before knocking out mayorga. he stood over him almost like dempsey did against willard! it's something the ref used, legally, but likely used to get bute out of trouble. fair enough, it's in the rules. But as people said, was bute able to continue?? Subjective and every time i watch that last round, i have a different answer

the fact is even if andrade had come out hiu corner slightly, the ref should have waved it off because his eyes wer still rolling, this makes him irresponsible. he was probably thinking about himself knowing that he will be refereeing all of butes championship fights and getting paid. whereas he wouldnt if andrade would have won.

butes time will come, i think he will get outpointed by ward and dirrel, and knocked rthge fuxk out against abraham and froch

bute is going to be like calzaghe, i dont know why i think this, a good fighter who is going to be in his backyard for his entire career who acknowledges that their aRE BEETR FIGHTERS THEN HIM I.E. TONEY BENN , and who will fight the big names on a slide.
