I hit the wrong button and voted yes. I meant to say no. Within the guidelines of the rules, Bute had to make it to his feet before the official counted to ten. He succeeded, and the moment his hands clearned the floor, the bell should have rang if there was no time remaining in the round. Bottom line is, Bute beat the count- at least according to the standard set by the body that sanctioned the contest. He would have beaten the count regardless of whether Wright admonished Andrade or not for staying out of the neautral corner (the pic provided by Maxime shows that Bute is on his feet at the point when Wright is talking to the fighter.) Librado Andrade is a nice guy, and had there been any time on the clock when the official took a look at Bute, I would then be in the count that claims he was robbed. But since Bute was, by IBF definition, standing after the three minute time period had experired, the round was over, and the fight therefore went to the cards. So... Bute W12 Andrade in the first fight. PS: Coggi-Gonzalez I is an example of real highway robbery..And sets the standard for any dicussion that takes place on this topic.
:deal The guys that argue over this simply don't want to understand the IBF rules ! I think a major case could have been made to stop the fight before Bute went down. Once he was down, there were less than seconds left on the clock, if I remember correctly, and all Bute had to do is get up before 10 seconds, per the IBF rule book. END OF STORY ! I don't agree with the IBF rules, but it's still their rules anyways !!
Man, if you stop the young champ whilst he's still on his feet just because he's shipping some punches for the first time in his career, you're causing a great injustice. No decent ref in the world would have stopped Bute at that point.
The rules make sense in a way: there's a big difference between being able to clear the floor and beat the count and not being able to clear the floor and beat the count - makes the difference between champs and contenders.
Your wrong. The Canadians have proof Boom_Boom. Solid proof the count was done correctly. I've already spoken with them here and they told about this proof. :rofl
How many of you have actually counted when seeing the fight? Every single time I've done this I have Bute clearly beating the count at 7-8. The bell had already rung midcount and the fight was technically over the instant Bute gets his two gloves off the canvas. There's no controversy whatsover. Bute only needed to beat the count to survive the fight and he did. Seems totally illogical to me that a ref should have to determine whether a fighter is fit to continue fighting after he beats a count in a fight that already ended.
Truth is, Bute stopped Andrade in a rematch. Williams gives nobody an rematch and look how he gets by with cheating.
Well, my memory might be a bit foggy, but didn't Bute get up before the count of 10, and wasn't the fight over basically when he got up? I don't know but either way, the fight realistically could have been stopped way earlier when Bute was staggering around like a drunk for half the round.
****, the poll's this close? I like Bute, and think he answered the question as to who the better fighter is with an exclamation point in the rematch...but for ****'s sake, people... The answer to the poll question is OBVIOUSLY yes. :-(
Funny that u mention that cuz i was thinking that this fight was very similiar to Chavez/taylor. Bute received the mutha****in greatest gift of all.
