There's always a lot going on behind closed doors that boxing fans don't know about. A lot has been said about Bute not having anyone to compete with since the Super 6 is still going on. I think things will change for the better starting early 2011. You just need to read between the lines to see what's unfolding without making any headlines anywhere yet... Dawson's promoter, Gary Shaw, has said on more than one occasion now that he would love to make Dawson-Bute after Dawson-Pascal. Pascal's promoter, GYM, were pissed about that comment and promised Dawson a first row ticket for the future Pascal-Bute fight, after Dawson is dimantled by Pascal. The bla bla is irrelevant but the important thing to remember here is that the three guys, Pascal, Bute & Dawson are now under HBO's wings. I think that no matter who wins between Dawson-Pascal, the next planned fight for HBO is Bute versus the winner of that one, possibly at a catch weight of say 170lbs. What do you think ?
I read an interview the other day and Gary Shaw wants to match Dawson with Bute and he says he has no problem with the fight happening in Montreal... Shaw is sure that dawson will beat pascal ( i agree ) and that's the fight he wants next. BUt will Bute grow a pair for such task?? Based on his history, NO.. He'll probably look for a Joppy rematch or maybe bring back Billy Conn from the dead.
At this point, I think the future fights for Bute will be associated to HBO and therefore, thre's no cherrypicking possible with them. They will outline fights they can market and Bute will fight those guys accordingly. I just think, without saying it openly, HBO is really looking forward to the winner of Pascal-Dawson against Bute early 2011. I don't get your based on history quote... Bute and his team have always looked for the best possible challenges, no matter what some guys have tried to insinuate here. Froch didn't want to face Bute for an IBF eliminator. FACT Green turned down Bute twice. FACT Bute was never invited in Super 6. FACT The WBO champ refuses to face Bute. FACT Bute never outpriced himself. FACT
I disagree here. I don't think Pavlik will be considered yet, before he proves himself at the higher weight. Dawson-Cloud will not draw much anyways and HBO know they're better off with any combination of Pascal, Dawson & Bute.
The Bute camp was askd about a fight with Dawson some months ago and flat out refused. I doubt that will change in the future. Dawson Cloud isnt going to happen because Cloud will lose to Johnson, and no one wants to see Johnson Dawson III. Bute is more likely to fight Pavlik then anyone eles.
Either way Dawsons too much for both Pascal and Bute IMO. The other 2 are great boxers but too small to take Dawson based on their height and strength. I know Dawson started at 160 but his frame seemed to expand a bit.
First of all, you have the wrong information, dawson's group never ask to fight agains Bute, but Bute's group INTERBOX ask 2 times a fight between Diaconu and Dawson and each time Dawson's manager refused. Second of all, stop thinking that guy (Dawson) is a god, is last 4 contender were over 40 years old and he didnt KO them and he is in the P4P, dont understand this one And by the way, Bute will never refuse a fight with one of the super 6, i dont said he is the best SMW but hes one of the top 4. Sorry for my english
Either fight the winner of Pascal/Dawson, Cloud/Johnson, or retire and stop holding the belt hostage cuz his cherry picking ways are getting old.
Who's he cherrypicking ? He's trying to unify but the WBO is a first grade chicken ****. He wants to fight anyone at 168lbs but all the legit guys are busy amongst themselves. You have no basis and you make yourself sound like a troll. Any motive ?
SO what was he doing in the period of 07-09 before the s6 took place?? Ur telling me that he had no other option but to face nothing but mandatories?? that's a classic example of a fighter who's trying to milk his title in his backyward.
Look at the guys in the Super 6 and besides Kessler facing Calzaghe, who the **** did the rest face prior to the Super 6 ? **** all compared to Bute !! Dirrell ? **** all ! Ward ? **** all ! Green ? **** all ! Abraham was milking his title at 160lbs so he was irrelevant at 168lbs ! Froch ? Pascal which everyone here considered weak opposition before their fight and Taylor which was a 160lbs champ, not 168lbs..!! The combination of facing Berrio-Bika & Andrade was better than all the rest had on their resume prior to the start of the Super 6 !
