I'm saying that Mundine had helped attract a lot of new fans to Boxing...

He had the attention of Joe Public.

He talked like he wanted to fight the best... and people wanted to believe him

Even Joe Public could eventually see that Mundine was always talking the hard option but taking the easy option..... and pretty much all those new Boxing fans that he attracted have turned their backs on the game.... They became disillusioned and moved on.

If Mundine had stepped it up... win or lose.... some of those fans would have then transferred their allegiances to other boxers and would not be lost to the sport.

Sadly..... Human nature being what it is.... Those fans lost to Boxing through the actions of the Mundine circus will never return

Fair enough....and I understand what your saying now....sorry a bit slow today :D

Why do you think the casual new fans didnt take to Kats, Vic and others in 2006 - 2007 while Mundine was going strong?

**** knows.... If I knew the answer I would have more in my Bank A/c than Nasser.

Vic's personality rubs some people the wrong way.... but that only explains some of it....

For what it's worth.... a large part of the blame is the responsibility of the Media...

If Mundine shits a sloppy turd they will interview him about it....

If a prominent public figure shits a sloppy turd.... they will interview Mundine about it...

But if Vic or Kastidas is fighting the Best of the best... it gets barely a mention several pages back in the sports section....

If those media fools only realised it.... there is a cash cow there waiting to be milked...

Give the likes of Vic and Kastidas the publicity.... drum up some interest over several weeks prior to a big fight....

Hello.... It becomes like a self fulfilling prophecy .... they would sell more papers.... more PPV.... and everybody's a ****ing winner... especially the fans....DAMMIT!

    ****ing Dickheads..... I wish I was a media tycoon:fire

Escuse me while I go take my medication... I'm getting worked up a little

Just watched a Paul Upham interview who says that if Mundine beats Margarito and Cotto next, then a Mundine - Mayweather fight will be viable. What great insight from an experienced journalist who I used to respect.

We have the most incompetent, idiotic, and ****-weak boxing media in Oz.

The pure amount of drivel these clowns come up with is simply mind-boggling. All Mundine has to do is fart and the media are all over it like a cheap suit. Seriously can we find some journalists who aren't completely spineless, and call it as they see it?? You'd think 99% of the boxing media are on the Mundine Green payroll.

you may be right but i hope your wrong.IMO he won 5 rounds against Mundine.probably more as Barry Michaels
having an orgasm every time Choc landed anything affected my opinion.1 of 3 judges scored it for Geale.2 of 3 who reviewed it with no volume scored it for Geale.Mundine ditched the belt which if you believe Mundine would of helped him secure the big OS fights hes after as he had a belt.i will not give up on Geale yet.

I think what OZ is tryn to say Stifler is Mundane has the gift of the gab, he could sell Sand to the Arabs his that good at spinning sht! but thats half of why the public love to hate him and hate to love him! its a great formula thats worked for him and i dont think he will stop anytime soon. Geal is too quiet, he cant bring the circus that mundane brings with him to the table. Geal is a quiet speaking guy who is very modest and down to earth, quite the opposite of mundane. The media love mundanes antics it gives them something to talk about and they know the public lap it up, its a vicouse circle that will only end when he hangs up the gloves imo.

Yeah.... Fenech did well because he had the public behind him coz he was ripped off at the Olympics and he struck while the iron was hot and turned Pro (Plus ... he was a ****ing animal in the ring)

Kostya.... had that certain something.... Charisma...

Green fed off the hate for Mundine and then progressed from there

Can't see any Aussie fighter in the near future with that certain something

The target market of the Khoder steered Mundine circus is not the boxing purist, or even the knowledgeable fight fan, Oz. It's a hybrid fan who's happy with a night amongst a noisy crowd and some 2nd rate ring action.

That's why the formula, though sadly lacking in most of the traditional key boxing ingredients, still brings in the $$$. Trouble is, as demonstrated by the other night, there are diminishing returns on the thickness of the mixture. You can only include so much **** to the mix before there's problems with the aftertaste.

I think the problem Oz is that alot of our up comers have been fed a diet of tomato cans which looks great for their records however when they come up against a good fighter or finally get a world title shot they fall short because they are not used to this calibure of fighter. I could mention names but i would offend to many people.

Good points about KT and Fenech m8, they never fought tomato cans and always had the public behind them 100%, when fighting the best in the world the country always gets behind our sportmen imo thats why mundane trys so hard to convince us all he is going after the best! he knows the public is slowly slipping away from his grasp.

I had hopes for Katsidis and Zappa, who knows m8 only time will tell. I think KTs son if he choses the path of boxing will be the next rising star to grace our television screens in the near future.

If that kid has what it takes.... My prediction.... "Kostya junior will be the saviour of Aussie Boxing"

He will generate so much interest for all the right reasons.:good

I won't say they destroyed boxing because it was already in a sorry state.

Mundine may have gave it mouth to mouth but he is definitely leaving it in a worse state.
He seems to be milking it for all its worth like a few other fighters these days.
