Why is Bute regarded by most as no.1?

You can make an arguement for the likes of kessler and ward being the best SMW more than you can bute, the fact that ward beat kessler and greene makes him more credible as no.1 SMW than bute. Also kessler also beat andrade, mundine, beyer and froch. Both those records outweigh Bute's

Who gives a **** about his resume. Ward and Dirrell were still green when Bute won his title. So if he fought and beat both at their green state, then he would have a better resume? Posters need to relax and wait until the opportunity arises for Bute to fight one of the super six. For all we know Froch could win the super six. Who else should he have beaten to have a better resume? Time is all that is needed and he will surprise many.

He is the number one guy. By the time the super six is over, it is possible that all will have had a lost. Ward is the only one undefeated, but I did not like his last outing. There is no dominant fighter at 168, but Bute and for now, Ward seem to stand out for the moment. Again, time will tell.

Are you implying that Bute cannot beat Mundine, Beyer, and Froch if given the chance?

Bute is a good fighter. Yea he is very skilled but he can't be the number 1 168 yet. He has to faces some S6 fighters before he can be called the best.

Maybe, and that's a BIG maybe But could have beaten Froch BEFORE the tournament, but I doubt he'll be able to beat Froch AFTER the tournament. :smoke

bute could beat mundine and beyer but no way he beats froch, plus theres a difference between actually doing something and potentially being able to do something, bute could beat a bunch of top guys but has he? no he hasnt. People go on about how the likes ward were green before the super six which i feel is a relevant arguement but he beat miranda right before it, no one makes a fuss but do when bute beats miranda. I hope after the super six someone like a ward, froch kessler or abraham put this guy to sleep

    Excellent post

It comes down to advertising alot of the time. If the public recognise a fighter, the fighter and there opponents are considered bigger fighters and fights than the facts of what the fighters have done in thier careers

Ward by close UD would be the likely outcome there but Bute would beat Dirrell and Green IMO
