Yes on film...I am sure that my five I have chosen do not exist but if any
do ,but will never be released for public consumption, due to monopolistic reasons...This would be a moral boxing sin, I believe......

It sure would be interesting to see what men like Tom Sayers and Jem Mace were all about... but if we're talking about boxers where it's at least possible that film could exist:

    1. Harry Greb (of course!)
    2. Sam Langford (other than the few clips on YouTube)
    3. Memphis Pal Moore
    4. Jack Blackburn
    5. Joe Grim (just curious!)

(How come I can't find a single clip of Eddie Perkins anywhere?)

There is film of this man, unless you wanted to see specific performances (e.g. Gavilan).

Yeah Ive seen the films multiple times, but really its not of the best quality and its not enough to show how prime robinson fought IMO. the old-timers when describing how he fought, described his speed, ferociousness and the flurries and barrages he threw as though you couldnt even imiatate them, watch his highlights and you see his combos flowing easily and thats in the 50s, when he was getting over the hill a little bit. In his prime, you can only imagine how good he was, if there was a film that showed it properly, it would be great.

and yes youre right if i had a choice to watch any of his fights in his peak, it would be Gavilan II.

bman ,I have seen Sugar Ray Robinson in his welterweight prime, and he was a marvel to see...Saw him against Henry Armstrong [Robby played with past peak Arnstrong] jimmy McDaniels, Bobby Dykes, and Randy Turpin,at the Polo Grounds...A great boxer with KILLER INSTINCTS, was
Robinson...When he OPENED up it was a sight to behold....

Burt, musta been a great experience to even see him once, but you saw him MULTIPLE times, theres a few lucky people here who saw him fight in his prime. i hope i get the chance to see a fight of him in his peak someday on film, a proper film though, not the grainy, choppy films on youtube. Its like the people that saw Greb-Tunney, or even see Greb fight any opponent, something surreal about watching him demolish an opponent, same with prime Dempsey, a prime robinson as a welterweight is described on a totally different level to the fighter that was seen in the 50s.

You are correct bman...Robinson was a revelation to see...When I saw him with my dad for the first time in 1943 against his idol Henry Armstrong at MSG,Ray carried him..He seldom opened up on Armstrong who was past his peak, but there is no doubt in my mind that Robinson would have cut
Armstrong to ribbons on their best days...Too tall for Henry..
But in 1945 I watched Robinson Flatten a real tough Caifornian Jimmy
McDaniels, with one flurry that stunned the crowd at the old MSG..
Never will I forget that two handed attack from Ray....take care...b.b.
