Oscar is a promoter and politician. He says things to sell a fight or please people.Have you forgotten how he predicted that Hatton would knock Mayweather out.Anyone who believed that was ******ed because Oscar was Hatton's promoter.Did anyone expect him to speak against hos own fighter?
I think Pacquiao's willingness to trade would be what would cost him against Tito however if he was to go out with the game plan to box smart and sticking to it then he's capable of beating him comfortably on points. That's just down to styles when you put them head to head rather than Pacquiao being inferior to him at 147. If you took the versions of Cotto and Mosley that fought Margarito for example, I think Pacquiao would beat Cotto comfortably but find Mosley a tougher nut to crack yet I think Mayweather would beat Mosley comfortably but find Cotto a tougher opponent.
Tito in 2001 going into the hopkins fight was either #1 or #2 p4p on most peoples list some had shane over him some had Roy ... going into the hopkins fight there wasn't a hotter fighter ... that middleweight tourney was made so tito could become the champ and beat a decent middleweight champ with 10+ defenses and make his resume look better ... things didn't go according to plan and benard hopkins was born ... I honestly don't think pac of now would be rated higher than tito of 2001 pre hopkins
If Oscar wants to promote this fight (if it ever gets made) then he should be all over Pacquiao being the man to finally shut Mayweather up.
140 down, noone is the favorite against Pacquiao. Noone. Even a Floyd Mayweather would be the underdog. Even at 147, Floyd is only like 10/11. Pac can still make 140 easy. No problem at all. The weight loss will not even affect him negatively. so don't be so surprised that Pac is the p4p king.
Tito was a great fighter but he was never FOTD material, a legendary ATG. That's a level that Pacquiao has reached that Tito never really did.
The Ring clearly include Pacquiao's fight with Hatton when they rank him as P4P#1, it wouldn't make any sense to have him as P4P#1 and have Mayweather as #1WW otherwise.
Whoa! Mayweather is not an underdog to pac @ anyweight class including 140 ... if they fight now @ 135 may would be an underdog but let's be serious ... the closest may comes to an underdog is a 'pick em' fight from 140 and up .. and even that is a stretch ... mayweather is favored over evryone 147 and down ... pac is favored over every but mayweather ... do the math buddy ...
What r u talking about ... tito was number 2 or 3 in fighter of the decade poll ... I don't remember clearly but he was top 3 .. I don't remember if it was kostya tzyu or dhl but he was top 3 .. so how wasn't he in the convo .. u clearly don't know what ur talking about ... I understand u wanna back up ur boy but don't let the favorite-ism blind u ... ur putting tito down to make pac better .. pac is great but if he is an underdog in any fight with some1 147 down he doesn't to deserve to be #1 ... its that simple
Cotto was the underdog maybe 3/2 @ 145 but if you had a Cotto caliber fighter at 140 today vs Pac at 140 today, Cotto would be a 3-1 maybe 4-1 underdog. So no doubt being at WW definately made a difference in the odds the same way its doing now.
Oscar said on the George Lopez show it's a pick-em fight. But he says different things at any moment.
Marquez is the most credible out of the three. He was still a good fighter when he faced both of them.
Ok so what's your point? .. what does that have to do with mayweather? ... pac was still the favorite against cotto .. and against a welterweight pac seemingly has an advantage in a lower the weight class ... so pac being a favorite vs cotto is established .. cotto has the same advantages vs pac that mayweather has .... yet cotto is an underdog and mayweather is a favorite .. why is that? By your theory cotto should've been a favorite also, right?? The answer is simple ... may is expected to win ... which brings me back to my point ... why isn't may p4p #1? ... don't get it twisted I think pac is great but if he is p4p# 1 and he's had 3fights against quality opposition (well 2 and a name dhl) and he happens to be an underdog to andre berto than andre berto should be #1 ... u can't wear the crown and be expected to lose .. it doesn't make sense
