Rob you started off okay here but you've steered this thread into the exact place you claimed you wanted to avoid, and made some nonsense comments so I won't be wasting any more time with it.
i get why u think that but im jsut saying what im seeing. I never said its **** just i always though the appeal was that it was different to boxing i.e best fight the best no polotics bull ****. but thats not the case.
It was Fedor who really turned me onto the fact that MMA didn't deserve my constantly derisory comments. Just jaw-dropping, and I'd still have him in the top 10 P4P regardless of the Werdum result. It happens. I personally think a Fedor counter right would do Carwin in. Fedors ground and pound (superior to both Lesnar and Carwins IMO, in fact Carwins was average on Saturday considering what he had on the deck, Brock was done) would do the rest. I expect him to avenge his loss to Werdum.
Povetkin has done well but we are talking about the guy who has put his title shot on hold for over 2 years!
it's like any sport though, you need to understand what you are seeing. In fairness Gatti Ward is terrible boxing but entertaining. It's not Corrales Castillo or even Morales Barrera. You have to judge a fight by what it is. It's like saying The Hangover is poor film making. It is what it is, a comedy, not the Godfather.
Anyone who thinks MMA lacks skill or is less skillful than boxing is simply exposing the fact that they don't understand what they are seeing. Thats okay. I couldn't give a seminar on every technique in basketball or some other **** sport. However be open minded and learn.
MMA in general is something i cant take too .it is a diffrent "art" compared to boxing ,the sooner people accept that better, then we wont have stupid MMA is better than Boxing etc Robs intial postings was spot on ,the only thing i dont like about mma is when they go to ground and are down there for ages ,that bores me shitless ,but if ou have decent combat then it can be good GBP done some decent PPV's under another banner.
I have to say I do enjoy MMA, but will always be more of a boxing fan. All my mc work at the moment is through MMA and I've worked some cracking shows. I've met somegreat people through the sport. I have to say that sometimes the small local shows can be more entertaining than the hyped UFC or Strikeforce mega events
UFC is typical of modern entertainment - brash, loud, all-action and over very quickly. You don't have to do much thinking while you're watching it. It's marketed well but I honestly don't think there's much substance behind it and within five years the business brains involved will be pushing something else.
look you can be as knowledgeable and smart as you want but anyone with an ounce of common sense can see theres more skill to MMA than boxing.
