Liston said Williams hit as hard as Sonny did.

Plus, Cleve could box a little.

Would Williams try to jump on Tyson early and take him out?

williams would give Tyson problems early like the Liston fight but then he would come back and knock him out. would be a good little slug feat while it lasted.

Williams was too hook happy, Tyson would get him fairly early

A brawl that goes 3-4 rounds at most, with Tyson winning in the end. I think he would be on the receiving end of some powerful left hooks though.

Williams was a high quality contender, but I'm going for Tyson KO2 in a short, explosive slugfest.

Which Williams are we talkin' bout for discussion here? The one who's been victimized over and over in "best of Ali," highlight reels, or the top solid contender he took a bullet in the abdomen.

Either one gets blown away by Mike.

I wouldn't say Williams gets blown away. Williams could hit pretty hard, and I don't think he gets stopped early. Tyson still wins this fight but I'd give Willams the respect of more than a couple or rounds.

Why do you see Williams lasting more than a couple rounds? He couldn't against Liston, and Tyson is possibly the fastest starter who ever lived. I see it ending early.

I'd go with Tyson KO 2.

Cleveland didn't have remarkable skills, he was quite a slow big man.

    Tyson KO within 5.

One has to remember Tyson outjabbed and outboxed Tony Tucker.

Williams was not slow vs Liston or Wiley.

Gotta disagree with you on that. He was nicknamed Big Cat for a reason, the guy had some seriously fast hands. The guy tripled and even quadrupled the left hook against Liston, you don't do that when you're slow.

Add to that a shotgun like jab which he used to box on even terms with the best boxers of his era in Eddie Machen and Ernie Terrell and you have quite a fighter. Just not a super durable one, although it's worth saying that only huge punchers in Liston and Satterfield knocked him out prior to the shooting.
