You mean Andy Lee who only came back to Ireland once he got beat in the US? I reckon you will see a bit more of Duddy now as well.

So there has only been a big boxing scene in Ireland for the past 18 months?? as thats when McCloskey and Lindsay broke onto the domestic scene in the UK, same as Rogan.

what do they have to do to qualify for an Irish titkle? I think the citizenship is 7 years but what if one had a child with an Irish woman or married an Irish woman? does this qualify them? I know perez was married to an Irish girl, since deceased R.I.P. and is engaged to another cork cougar now :yep

I do. But you claimed: 'it might interest you to know that on a population basis we are more successful than Britain in the amateur and pro game.'

You may be successful for a small nation, there's no denying that. But you've only produced one 'regular' champ in the pro game in the past 13 years.

And you've haven't had a single champ in a major world tournament in the period in which Britain has had three. So could you explain how you are 'more successful' please?

Cut that **** out. There's no need for that. Yet.

I mean Lee who is still based in NY and has fought in Ireland before and after his sole defeat, that's the Lee I'm refering to.

As I explained to you before, there are not as many opportunities for Irish boxers in Ireland as there are in Britain, it's coming along with more Irish title fights, more cards, etc, but it was much easier for Lindsay, McCloskey and Rogan to fight for British titles. This in no way changes the fact that they are Irish which is what you are implying. Is Jamie Moore British?

    I am hardly an idiot.

I think you are missing the point of the post. RP and others are claiming that many fighters on the list shouldnt be on the list because they were not born in Ireland.

He also said that is a fighter fights for a British title then they are British.

So what I am trying to do is point out that he is arguing from a hypocritical standpoint by pointing out alternate examples.

Its a boring argument, but I knew many of the more ignorant posters on here would want to discuss eligibilty rather than the list or the fighters merits.

If someone can point out an fighter on the list that doesnt qualify for an Irish title then I would be happy to remove them.

    simple.

Any chance anyone has an opinion about the various lists or is it just another chance for bigotted "Paddy bashing" and trolling? :good
