true, it's a legit term, however it's use by some can be offensive. america is a country and europe is an entire continent and yet america has ruled boxing for the past 80 or so years. look at the number of champions for the past 8 decades in each weight class: the number in america is more than the rest of the world combined. i ain't american and i don't really have interest either way but america has bred more champion boxers than europe, by far. partially resources, population, socio-political structure, blah blah. lots of reasons but the best fighters OFTEN come out of america and the biggest fights USUALLY happen in america. to fight the best, traditionally, you really do have to go stateside. you don't have to like it but it don't change things

Now i see the process of giving this term a new meaning which is pretty funny.

Lower end of. But Froch hasnt lost in America and beat Taylor in America and Dirrell lost to Froch in Europe

There were parts of Europe which werent aloud to box proffesionally until recently, like Cuba arent, but now they are, there has been a shift in the boxing world, particularly the HW division

absolutely, there's a shift. but up until very recently europe was second or third class to america and mexico. with the exception of specific weight classes (super middleweight, light heavy) europe has not shared the success of america ESPECIALLY at heavyweight

Excellent point. This is painfully obvious. Cunningham was raised in Philly. He has a business out here, and his family lives here. You'd have to be an idiot to believe he' fighting in Europe for any reason outside of monetary concerns. He would much rather be fighting in Atlantic City, on HBO, making good money. That's just not possible right now, so he has to go to Europe to get paid.

Not true any more. Germany and to a lesser extent the UK have stolen a fair chunk of the "big fights".

oh for sure. they've stolen a lot of the big heavyweight fights, heck yeah even in other weight classes. but as a whole, i think america is still where you go for exposure. wlad pulls in 60 000 regularly and still desperately wants to hit it big stateside. most of the weight classes above lightweight are the same. but the tide is shifting for sure...

Europe has been dominant in the HW division possibly longer than you think. The Klitschkos have been top for some years and L Lewis before that, which over 10 years.
This is why I respect S Cunningham for fighting in a tough scene, a true warrior

I leave for two weeks and the forum goes to hell...wtf is are all these threads by herbzg and bailey talking all kinds of nonsense about 'Euro-level' and this that and everything else.

Quit trolling guys. It's well known that American fans are biased toward Americans and Europeans are biased toward Europeans. You don't have to ask all these ******ed loaded questions to prove your point.

  14. I sure enjoyed watching Troy Ross put him on his ass. Cunningham was lucky to get out of that fight with a 'W'.

Why is it considered trolling to praise Cunningham as a fighter?
