Gday All, long time reader and first time poster, :hi: Not a boxing expert like some on here by any means but want to put a few questions up to those in the know! Firstly, I realize there are the green haters on here, But Im a bit of a green Fan, Sure he hasn't taken on the biggest names, but he has tried to get some big fights unlike another disgraced Aussie.. Did he not try and get tarver and Hopkins which fell through? Sure Hopkins is old but at least he is calling some out who are not cab drivers? I also consider Briggs to be one of my old fav's.. So Im at a loss here as to which one to go for because of what it may mean should either one loose? Anyway, onto my question? Should Danny Green Loose, What does it mean for him? Is it the end? If Briggs wins? Will he fight again? If Green Wins, Briggs will not fight again, Who does Green try and secure a fight with from here? See how we go!
These guys are my 2 favourite Australian fighters, and I'm not sold on the certainty of a Green win as Briggs can bang and has hunger. It all comes down to his condition on the night - 3 years out may have given his body a good rest and he could be fresh when they fight, or he may suffer ring rust. Back to your question - it depends on the manner of the loss - if Briggs were to dominate Green and completely humiliate him, it could signal the end for Green, and vice versa, however, I can't see that happening, I can see a war that goes to the cards and could be a split decision win to either Briggs or Green, setting up a hugely anticipated rematch. I can also see a KO win for either of them, but again, depending on the circumstances, a rematch could still be on the cards e.g if it's an early round KO. The other option is a ref stoppage because Briggs isn't in the best of shape. I'm looking forward to this fight and hope Briggs is in good shape, as we should see a 12 round war!
Afta Green beat a shot RRJ, Chad Dawson called out Green and said he would come down 2 Oz 2 fight him, Green said no way and then Green called out Tarver 42yo and then Hopkins 45yo. Green and Mundine will only fight guys they will beat or they wont fight. Dont hold ur beath waiting 4 Green 2 fight any1, he just doesnt have the balls.
Green is just as fake as Mundane! "When you defeat a Ledgend you become a Ledgend" then you fight someone whos been reitred for 3 yrs due to health problems and duck primed fighters like Chad Dawson. The first part of that sentance sounds great but the second part is the reality of whats going on here, polish a turd up as much as you like but at the end of the day its still a turd. Ive got just 1 Questions for you Rumpus, Why doesnt Danny Green Challenge any of the REAL Crusier weight champions? instead of calling out fighters who are past their prime. Krzysztof Wlodarczyk WBC Steve Cunningham IBF GUILLERMO JONES WBA
if Green loses im sure he would have a rematch clause if Briggs loses hes finished.Green will probably target Jeff Harding next as he is not retired hes just having a layoff and would be ranked in the 20's of the IBO CW division if he came back.
Tell ya what Greenie Boy should do lol.. Redeem himself over the wooping he got from James Toney [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3XWHNDsXmk&feature=related[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tjpbr8zadgg&feature=related[/ame] It wont happen cause Toney would hand Greens azz to him on a plate!
Green wont lose, if was a chance of him loosing he wouldnt take this fight. Briggs needs a payday thats it. I hope afta Green wins he doesnt call out Evander Holyfield again his 48yo.
Wasn't spose to be bag out green thread.. Should have known, ive been poking around long enough! Thanks to the guys who answered seriously
all these guys just wait for a green thread so they can throw up their over used and exhausted jokes about him rumpus, truth is the guys bought a lot of the mainstream population back to boxing, especially in perth, whilst making a tidy profit, and more often than not its his manager in angelo hyder, not danny himself who does the **** talking, as for the "when you beat a legend you become a legend" quote tc that was coined by bernard hopkins about the rjj fight on the nothing else matters documentary , danny never came up with that. I watch his fights because theyre exciting and you know dannys not going to keeep you guessing , hes going to throw it all on the line no matter who he fights. also the undercards on his fight are generally very good and he gives up and coming boxers a real go to try and establish a name, which can only be good for the sweet science. as for post fight , i think if danny wins he will target tarver or another relatively big name, not the best out there because at this stage of his career, danny being 37 he needs to be considering big money fights with big ppv numbers. if briggs wins then the skys the limit really, hes only 34 , and has had a great layoff.
It's just the good old tall poppy syndrome kicking in or in tcboxas case down syndrome:hey Welcome to the we hate Danny Green forum mate:good
Green is no better than Mundane, those that defend Green also defend mundane without even knowing it! Whos the Fool? both of them are taking the public on a boxing circus joy ride and whilst the profits for them may be rewarding it will not secure their legacy in the history pages of boxing thats for farkn sure!
Pre Green's BS retirement I was a fan! He seemed like a down to earth guy and did the best with what he had: big power, good chin, large heart but a fairly one dimensional style as was shown up in his performance against the dog **** that is Mundine. He demonsttrated a willingness to travel the globe and delivered some solid fights (eg: v Lucas, v Beyer x2) even though he did not always win. Green on the comeback trail has been almost as cynical and fraudulent as Mundine's entire career. Bar luring the shot and strapped for cash Jones Jr out here his opponents have been a disgrace. Big kudos for atleast attempting to get Hopkins and Tarver downunder but his fallback options (Siaca, Briggs) have been a complete ****ing joke! No disrespect to Briggs who is a warrior to the core but it is clearly a last paycheck fight for him! I hope I am wrong, I usually am! I have no doubt that Green could get the likes of Dawson, Cunningham, even that douche BJ Flores, here for the right price. These guys would cost less than the likes of Jones, Hopkins and Tarver and offer potentially great clashes. Talk about a case of missed opportunity!
Briggs has a punchers chance in the fight, thats it. I expect him to lose comfortably after putting up a gutsy effort. He will never fight again. If he were to win he might have a rematch with Green or head over to the US for a couple of decent paydays as he is known for his wars with Adamek who is now top 10 or so P4P. If Green wins i would expect more of the same from him. Make snide remarks to Mundine and continue to blurt out that he is the cruiserweight king all the while fighting light heavy's or smaller at some nonsense catchweight. Good luck to him but true knowledgeable boxing fans know the score with fighters such as Mundine and Green. I do agree that Green is definately showing more desire to fight better quality than Mundine. That is without question and even though Hopkins and Tarver are 45 and 41 yrs old they still have skills and could and possibly would still beat someone like Danny Green.
Green is every bit as bad as Mundine probably worse in fact. Green built his entire career fighting nobodies and calling mundine out. Big deal. People that say that love Green but hate mundine because mundine takes easy fights and talks **** and is arrogant are absolutely kidding themselves. Green and mundine have all you nut huggers wrapped around their fingers. I wouldnt be suprised if they were in this together from quite early on.
