Haye has been offered 50-50, that is more than he deserves and you are defending his rejection of this offer. Why should he get 100% of ppv money when the ppv buys are directly affected by who he is fighting?
Haye's achievements at cruiser are enough of a bargaining tool. And it's a business. Haye's fight against Valuev drew 750,000 to 900,000 PPV buys. He's a big draw. He can demand pretty much whatever he wants because despite Wlad's or Vitali's achievements, they don't make the same money Haye does. You know my thoughts on Mayweather. I disagree with this ducking because of money but Haye deserves the cut he brings. I genuinely don't think Mayweather is a bigger draw globally, but if he was, he'd deserve the lions share too.
It's the same position as mayweather/pac. Both guys get their biggest paydays against each other. Except Wlad is considered THE man at HW. 50/50 is unbelievably fair to Haye. I personally think Wlad would be a much bigger star if HBO or america knew how to promote him or who to put him in there with.
I think he deserves most of the PPV buys, yes. How many of the near million who paid to see the Valuev fight, had any idea who is opponent was? 5%? how many had seen him fight, considering he was never on British TV? 2%? Come off it. I think Klitschko deserves 25% of the PPV buys but he doesn't bring those 25%.
I agree that 50/50 of the purse is fair. Haye probably doesn't deserve that, but let's say it's fair to make it simple. Haye's PPV sales were about $20million for the Valuev fight. Wlad makes $4m. You can't say Wlad deserves 50% of the British TV money. 50/50 on the purse, 75/25 for the TV money. Simple.
Wlad is fueling as many of those buys as haye. Haye won't even make a percentage of that vs any other fighter. There is no reason for a dude to ***** out of a fight he screamed for while trying to claim he's the draw. He is not the draw.
So you can't defend Haye's demands for 100% which is the sticking point, so you have to concede that he is creating the obstacles not Wlad. By the way you are overestimating Haye's worth, Haye V Valuev was huge because it was promoted from the David V Goliath angle, Haye V Ruiz didn't generate as many sales (if it did anywhere near you can be sure that info would have been publicised or leaked), and Klitschko V Haye will do massive ppv numbers because of Wlad's standing in hw boxing.
My point is that Haye's ppvs will only do as well as Sky can market them, Sky latched on to the David V Goliath angle and so generated lots of sales, there wasn't an angle to promote the Ruiz fight and so it didn't do as well. The success of a Klitschko V Haye ppv will be down to Sky's ability to promote it using Wladimir's standing as the hw no. 1 who has been dominating for years. So you see Haye is not the draw you think he is.
We have no idea what PPV draw Haye is. We have one number that they threw out, a single one and that was for the Valuev fight. That's it. We don't know the numbers for Haye - Ruiz. They "just" be 250k or they could have been 650k. We don't know. The entire "Haye is a big PPV draw" theory is based on a single fight. It may well be true but I'd like to see more numbers first -- if they were released that is. Now how well is Haye going to do in the future if he fights the likes of Chagaev or Rahman? What opponents besides the Klitschkos will generate him as much hype and PPV buys as the Valuev bout?
Haye's PPV audience for the Ruiz fight obviously collapsed after the pathetic David vs Goliath bout... thus the unreleased numbers. But it doesn't matter any more because Haye is a subprime bubble of boxing. And no matter how good they try to cover it, a bubble always bursts - sooner or later. We just have to wait now...
