Trinidad vs Norris was one that I really wanted to see.

That was a strange affair. I wonder if Eddie regrets not going through with that fight.

Although the fight actually did happen two months later, I remember tuning in to watch Mike Rossman - Victor Galindez II on TV in Februry 1979, Rossman actually entering the ring, and Galindez refusing to leave his dressing room apparently over a dispute over the officials.

Johnson - Corbett in 1909 sounds interesting.

Edison wanted Sullivan vs. Corbett instead of Corbett vs. Courtney for his first kinetograph boxing film. While Sullivan would have been old by that time, we could have seen how he moved in the ring. The short duration would have eliminated stamina as a problem.

    Negotiations fell through, unfortunately.

That whole event was a tradgedy.Cerdan, who i saw in his first fight in America, injured his shoulder in the first round with LaMotta, and was stopped in 10 rounds in their first fight...The second bout date was postponed when LaMotta claimed an injury...They rescheduled the bout, and poor Cerdan lost his life when his plane crashed over the Azores
in 1949...if only LaMotta had not postponed the second fight Cerdan would have not been killed...The hands of fate!!!

Were these fights actually scheduled? I know they're interesting matchups (I would have loved to have seen them!), but my idea behind this thread was to talk about fights that were signed and set, only to be cancelled for one reason or another (injury during training, etc.).

In March 1980 there was talk of an Ali-Scott LeDoux tuneup fight in June 1980, so Ali could prep for his autumn multi-million dollar showdown with John Tate. One hitch was that LeDoux would have to cancel his April 19, 1980 match with Gerry Cooney.

In Britain (well Hong Kong) we lost out on a Mercer/Bruno; Hide/Morrison double header.

Trinidad/Norris was cancelled at least a couple of times.
