I read it and wrote a big paragraph to reply and it got deleted. A lot of them are in football. Think of the pure athletes in football ashley young, walcott, abgonlahor very very fast players been bought up as footballers due to there athletic abilities. There are a lot more footballers than boxers obviously due to the amount of clubs available and it being the number one sport. Imagine if Peter Crouch took boxing he would be our very own PW. Also, USA is a lot lot bigger and invest a lot better in home grown talent. I don't want it to go to waste this is not a troll thread. I do think that a lot of the athletes are going to football is the main reason we dont have many pysically gifted fighters apart from maybe Kell Brook etc. Thoughts?

We don't know if they'd have the heart or chin. That's very important in boxing. Yeah, Murray is a massive boxing fan. Someone posted an interview here ages ago where he talked a lot about boxing.
Boxing is more then muscles and ripped abs and basing looks on other real fighters. This is why it's hardest sport in world. You got to have a boxing brain,Heart,Chin, as well as a will to win and a mind that fears no bounds, plus skills to pay the bills. As Eubank said ''you have to be willing to die in there''.
i seem to remember athletics groups also complaining about the dominance of football in this country...as you say from an early age the majority of athletic kids are guided towards football to the detriment of other sports including boxing.
I think boxing going into schools will help. I coach a few lads who have had boxing go into there school and they've thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a sport that has a fear factor attached because people relate horrific stories and facts of injuries and deaths to it and so children get weary. I'm not saying people should force boxing upon kids because this is a special sport for special people. But i'd like to see Local Clubs start maybe interact with there local football clubs (junior,youth,senior) and start to offer classes for pre season. Great Tool and may grab a few young lads attentions.
Theres too much money in football to do a lot less work A footballer now can be mediocre, still pick up a few million a year... a boxer without a good contract will be lucky to survive in his 1st 4 years as a pro until/if he hits world champion status, but even then, it's demand for the division, like a top welter, will pick up more than a top fly, and still wont get as much as a football player, unless he hits the heights of mayweather/pacquiao/hatton/haye/Klitschko. Plus, football has much more exposure, every ****ing saturday is full of football, but the quite night where no one is watching, boxing gets put in. And a final note, there are more "hero's" in football. now there is Ronaldo, Messi, Kaka, Torres, Villa etc... who does boxing have? Mayweather? People only watch to see his ass get whooped, it doesn't happen. Haye? Seems scared of fighting the best available to him. Hatton? A fat guy... nuff said. Pacquiao, now being accused left right and centre of taking PED's Boxing gets a bad rep cause of these lads whilst footballers pick up a huge check and people watch religiously. So, in my opinion, that is why the best athletes go to football
