Yeah Heath Herring is the best route to a title for a fighter who's 2 - 1. Fedor should have faced Heath.. Oh wait a minute....

Jingoistic? That's certainly a new one for me.

It's not like I dislike Fedor as a person, let alone a Russian, or that I don't consider him the GOAT; it's just he clearly hasn't taken the best fights in many cases.

Yeah your right. How dare he face UFC former champs like AA and Sylvia. And the fact he faced a guy like Rogers who has the SAME record as Carwin? Utterly disgraceful.

You seem to be leaving a few names out.

Of course it's not disgraceful, but it isn't the best available. I'm not on some personal crusade against the man, I'm pointing out pretty clear facts.

If you want to read he's record its on Sherdog. So pray tell how does Brock get kudos for beating Couture who's not a legit heavy and Mir. But Fedor gets none for completely wiping out AA and Sylvia in under a round?

I considered Fedor the best and wins over Arlovski and Sylvia maintained him as the best. I'm not chatting **** in hindsight. They were legit wins considering where those guys were in their career and how he dispatched of them. However, as the best in the world he was not fighting the best contenders. He was fighting good fighters but not the best of the best. Even Werdum was a top contender but not the best of the best.

In fairness, I think the best guys were in the UFC. The old guard like Cro and Nog were in UFC, the fresh meat like JDS and Cain were in the UFC and the old guard of the UFC were there too i.e. Couture and Mir.

Rogers, Arlovski and Sylvia are good bouts. I think its the Lindland and Choi bout that were a bit poo. It's a shame the Barnett fight didn't come off as he is a quality fighter who Fedor hasn't mixed with yet and he was as good as there is.

This is bit retrospective. When Fedor faced Lindland and Choi neither Cain nor JDS were the names that they are now - names within the UFC that is. As for Brock he hadnt even turned pro yet. Likewise Carwin wasnt being touted as a "name" heavyweight in MMA and frankly still shouldnt be other than within the UFC.
The FACTS are Fedor faced the best competition that was available. The fact he's not in the UFC makes this argument more compelling and completely casts aside all the useless conjecture about fights with UFC fighters.
As for the BEST heavys the facts are there NOT in the UFC. Mir Brock Carwin Cain JDS yeah some decent heavys there but certainly not the best in the world at their weight. JDS has an argument but until he wins the UFC title thats all its going to be. Either way the aforementioned were distant thoughts in Fedor's post PRIDE career.

I'm of the opinion that there's no way to justify ranking Brock #1 at HW or ahead of Fedor, even after the Carwin fight. If Fedor ends up losing to Werdum again and Lesnar beats JDS then I can see a case to be made, but as of right now it just doesn't make sense.

Brock is raw talent but grows with every fight. I think he will make it through the next two fights. The way the just grabs a guys arm with his own arm and over powers him like a small child is a big part of what makes him dangerous.
