That's exactly what I see with Jacobs. He does pretty much everything fairly well, but he doesn't do anything spectacular.

I think Highly of both Daniel Jacobs and Demitry Pirog.
I think they both have very good futures in boxing.
I think youth, size, speed and profesional experance are all in Jacobs favor.
They are about even in power.
I think this is going to be a very good boxing match.
    I think Jacobs will win.

It looks like ESB has Jacobs the same as the oddsmakers - a bit of a favorite, but not overwhelming. :think

Interesting. To a lot of us t's 50-50

I mean, it is basically 50-50. I'm giving it to jacobs in a close fight because of slightly higher ring age, younger age, and physical advantages. I do think Pirog is a bit more skilled though, which evens it out.

Really close fight though, and definitely the best reason to buy diaz marquez II

going to be really close. but i think jacobs will come out on top. wouldnt be suprised if he didnt though cause he does show vulnerability but overall i think he is a little more complete.

You're in for one helluva surprise if you really think Pirog is more skilled than Jacobs.

I wouldn't be surprised if he has a career like Jermain Taylor. Wins some big fights, it P4P level for a while, but never gets sufficient respect because he lets his fights stay close and he's not very exciting.

How would you handicap Jacobs right now vs. prime Jermain Taylor, at the start of his reign?

WOW!. You just made yourself look like an idiot by calling pirog's style meat and potatoes euro style, and then showing a video of him with an opposite style. Pirog is as slick as jacobs with better fundamentals. This fight will come down to whoever is better prepared and whi is tougher.
This fight is very evenly matched in all categories, including slickness.

    STFU noob.

I watched the video before posting it and the accompanying blurb, and if you had any reading comprehension skills whatsoever you'd see that I was indicating he wasn't JUST your typical European fighter, pointing out that he has a very unique commitment to body punching. The stand-up game is his foundation, as you can still see it in his stance at times, but he's built on it a great deal, as people have noted - largely by watching and modeling himself after American styles.

Don't let the fact that he uses a shoulder roll and some upper body movement on the way in and out fool you into missing the fact that his defensive posture when idling is often strikingly similar to that of Arthur Abraham and other Europeans.

Excuse my outburst, christo. I had not yet taken my pain meds at the time of that post.

You (and others in this thread who seem to be under the misconception that Pirog was cast as merely a "typical" European style boxer) should in the future make sure you fully understand someone's intended meaning before declaring that they have made themselves look like an idiot. :good

The fact that even most American posters appreciate Pirog*s style shows the potential of this fight as something to look forward to and to be excited about. Can*t wait for fight week and see all the differing opinions before the fight. It could very well and up a FOTY. Guys keep on watching all the other fights of Pirog before assessing the outcome. Peace
