Hes already won one fight since prizefighter and hes fighting in Dublin again in August. hopefully theres a fight with paulie hyland somewhere down the line. that would be a good scrap
I'm a big Casey fan and I think with a bit of luck he could get to European level. His step up in class in such a short time is admirable. Him or Hyland will have a shot at the EBU title after Martinez fights for it. He would beat Hyland by stoppage imo. A slick defensive fighter will outbox him at some stage. Casey is fairly one dimensional but having said that, he is a real handful, he doesn't give his opponent a moment to breath. Really exciting style. His Prizefighter performance showed him to be a true warrior and he definitely earned himself a few new fans from that event.
Good fighter to watch, I'll be keeping a look out for him. He's knocking on a bit so I guess he'll have to step up pretty quickly.
Emiliano Salvini http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=25403&cat=boxer is his opponent for next month. Salvini doesn't have a great record but he's been in with some top fighters, is durable(so should give Casey rounds) and fought for the European title down at Bantamweight last year. Hopefully from there Casey can push on towards a fight with Paulie Hyland and maybe a European title shot in the not too distant future.
He made a fan of me at the Prizefighter. Really hope we get to see more of him on tv. He seemed a decent chap and can definetly entertain and win. Maybe after a few more fights he can enter some kind of belt level....hopefully the Irish keep us informed.
Casey is great value for money as a fighter, and I think he has above average ability. He could be beaten, but he'll really make you work for it. Him and Hyland in a fight will be a top scrap, I would go to see that.
------------------------------------ I know a lot of people think a boxer would have Casey's number but I think only a top level boxer would beat him. Tyson Cave was meant to be a real slik kid even though he was only 10-0 at that time. Team Cave thought Casey was too much of a brawler that they could dance cave around him with the jab. Well we all now how that ended. I am not sure Hyland would beat casey to be honest because I don't think Hyland has been with someone as destructive as Casey. That said Hyland is on a good streak but something tells me this ends with Hyland hitting the canvas. Don't get me wrong though it would be very competitive.
good little fighter with good power, if he has another year of experiance, he'll take some beating at euro level, all the best to him, he's good to watch.
concidently there was a press release from Casey's team today. http://boxing-ireland.com/20100713_head_casey_30.html
Many had Wale winning. Unsurprisingly I didnt. Wouldnt have complained if it had gone either way but I thought Casey landed the more telling shots, Wales was flurrying against the gloves.
I did think Wale won, but when it's a 3 round fight and all the rounds are close you can't argue either way really.
