We'd all (myself included) like to see Vitali fight someone else other than Briggs. But, Vitali is at a point in his career where it's very hard to find opponents.

Let's look at the WBC Top 15.

    1. Ray Austin - What's Vitali going to do here, see if he can beat him with one hand in two rounds like Wladimir did?

    2. Solis - Said No

    3. Valuev - Wants more $$$ (way more than he deserves)

    4. Denis Boytsov - Same trainer as Vitali, at least up until recently

    5. Adamek - ??? not ready

    6. Derric Rossy - (KO'd by Dimitrenko in 5)

    7. Johnathon Banks (ya right, anyone see his last fight?? - also Wladimir's sparring partner)

    8. Shannon Briggs - available

    9. Samuel Peter - already lost to Vitali

    10. Chris Arreola - already lost to Vitali

    11. Tony Thompson - recently injured I believe, already beaten by Wladimir

    12. Juan Carlos Gomez - already lost to Vitali

    13. Siarhei Liakhovich - lost by KO to Briggs, lost UD to Valuev

    14. Albert Sosnowski - already lost to Vitali

    15. Audley Harrison - looks like a date with Haye

Again, I'd like to see Vitali fight someone else, preferably Valuev.

However, if Valuev doesn't accept (a payday that is MORE than he deserves), Vitali must go down the list of contenders and see who is available.

We'd all like to see a better opponent, but it is what it is.

It's not a sure thing yet...but even if it does come off, it should at least be exciting for the first few rounds, until Briggs needs his inhaler.

Well, as a former WBO champ Briggs adds something to the legacy, even if it is a very small something.

If he can't get some good names into the ring, he ought to just hang it up and go into politics. Personally, I would like to see him hang around a couple of more years and get guys like Haye, Valuev, Tua, Adamek, and Solis. But if its not going to happen, then there is simply no reason to subject himself to the punishment to beat guys like Johnson and Sosnowski.

Like I have been saying..I dont think briggs deserves a shot... but Briggs got himself ranked top 10 and while it lasts it could be entertaining....when you look at his list^^ there isnt much to choose from when guys at the top say "NO"

Whatever, I don't knock Vitali, he is almost out of options.

All I really care about is seeing Wlad kill Haye.

I looked at taht the other day. What **** rankings.

However, I don't think losing to Wlad should make a scrap of difference. They're different fighters for different organisations.

Does that mean any fighter that lost a WBA fight should be ineligable too?

    Probably a good idea honestly.
He's right hand fodder right now.

He needs to be tested by a big puncher (definitely not audley, but whatever)

This sucks. I don't blame Vitali for having a lack of competition, but I don't want to see him against Briggs. All he has to do is play keep away for the first few rounds and then he can coast to another victory. What Vitali and the heavyweight division need is pure sugar. The Russian kind, straight outta Saint Petersburg. Did that fall apart already? Isn't it still a possibility? It makes more sense than him fighting Briggs. One of the Klitschko's needs to fight SNV, and it should be Vitali. It just has to happen. How hard could it be for them to sell the "biggest fight" of all time? The giant is ready. He's waiting. He's shaving with an axe.
