He wont fight Vitali, believe he was first offered 2 million then 2.5, he wants 3-5 million to fight. Overpriced I think. Klits offered to fight him many times and his answer is always no. Be a good fight to see, think Vitali takes him out in 4 :good Bring it on! Vitaly can show Haye how it is really done, mabye thats why this fight won't happen?
Vitali should just give DK/Valuev the 3-4 mil and get it done. This is a big (no pun intended) fight. I realize K2 dislikes dealing with DK, but hell....as you said, look at the other options. Pineapple-head doesn't even deserve a shot at this point, where Valuev is ranked #2 and has held a title recently. If Wlad can concede to Haye a 50/50 fight, Vitali maybe should concede the 3-4 million and take the much more interesting fight. We already know that Briggs only has gas for max 4 rounds, then Vitali can take him out whenever he chooses.
You know, I pretty much agree with you. Briggs is at least a decent name in the US, and is ranked...but Valuev would be so much more interesting. How does Vitali fight against someone bigger than himself? Can Vitali knock Valuev down and/or out? How does Valuev deal with someone at least close in size to himself? These are all interesting questions that I want the answers to. No, Valuev doesn't deserve a penny more than he's been offered...but with so few options, perhaps it's time to just compromise on it, and get this fight made.
I can see your point. However, from the list of the current Top 15 ratings, only two have been beaten by Wladimir (3 if you count Peter, but Vitali also already beat him). Ray Austin is definitely not a better option. I think Tony Thompson WOULD BE, but I believe he recently pulled out of a fight due to injury.
This is third Vitali match in the row, where Klitchko fans feel need to defend his choice of opponent. Every time with a same "every guy in top 20 is ducking him" excuse. According to you guys there havent been any real contenders available to Vitali for over a year
Who said Adamek wasn't ready? Trust me, if the offer was made Adamek would grab it now. IMO he seems much more willing then Haye or Povetkin to fight the Klits.
I agree with you though. There are not enough available contenders. If Vitali can't lineup a better guy than Briggs then he should simply wait until he FINDS a better opponent or until the mandatory is due. There is no need to box every 10 weeks if there are no credible opponents available. His last mandatory is listed as September 26, 2009 (Arreola). That should mean his next mandatory is due by September of this year, and that should mean that Solis could box him, if the WBC council makes him the #1 contender in their next update. Vitali should really implore the WBC to ask Solis to either box Vitali in September based on a purse bid or forfeit his #1 ranking.
It's a combination of "he's ducking him" and "they won't fight for that money". Seems to be a bit of recurring theme with K2. But then boxing promoters are hardly known for being open and honest are they? (I'm talking about the possible opponents responses). Those ratings are ****. Ratings are generally **** anyway. Just read that Harrisons ranking has shot up recently? Why? For winning his last fight, or to see the possible fight with Haye seem more respectable? It's pretty common to see guys fly up the ranking when they're named as a challenger, and get to stay a bit higher afterwards. No way on earth should Briggs be top 10 in any rankings. Even as a Tua fan, I think his high rankings are based on marketability not RECENT performance.
What a This content is protected list. And, what a sorry state. When you enumerate it out - it really is stunning (or repetitively confirming) in its undeniable shittiness. Every other sport - perhaps every human endeavor - has advanced (at least relatively/comparatively) except one. The current crop of This content is protected boxers has the This content is protected athletic talent imaginable. :-(( The division consists of leftovers, rejects, gimps, fat asses, circus freaks, and athletic ******s. :verysad:shock: This content is protected in a time machine would still be This content is protected champ - This content is protected -a- This content is protected -i- This content is protected -y - with this kind of lame competition. This content is protected best days may well have been forty+ years ago ( during the 3 and 1/2 years he lost ) but his footwork, hand speed, movement, quickness, chin, length, creativity, confidence, etc., etc. among these big men would still be more than sufficient to dominate - forget modern medical developments, sports medicine advancements, new training methodologies, nutritional knowledge, advanced athletic equipment manufacturers, etc., etc. as these recent benefits have accrued to the large sized athletes in the growing sports. You can give all the steroids, PEDs, HGH, etc., you want to the disabled and they will still be largely or effectively disabled. Boxing has really suffered from the lack of participation and competition from the best young talent. It is all about the numbers (lack thereof). The absence of interest, support, and subsidy has been so obviously ruinous. Going from a small pool of talented youngsters to nearly zero has left the sport an athletic embarrassment. Have a large group of motivated youngsters competing to become professionals (medicine, accounting, law, engineering, etc.) and they'll end up pushing each other to a greater level of achievement and performance. Gather up a pathetic hodge podge of limited unexceptional lumps of athletic clay and you end up with the worst professional class This content is protected . It is comparable to having Jesse Owens run a 10.3 100m in the This content is protected Olympic Games in Berlin and his great great grandson running the This content is protected winning time in 2016. Except ( This content is protected ) in 2016 the winning Olympic time will likely be This content is protected x. bet you'd love to see them pound toney also haha. i would watch that just to see toney's ego smashed!
this sort of rubbish needs to stop. just because fighter X lost to one brother should not make him irrelevant to the other. they are completely different fighters, let them do their own bidding.
Haye has already backed out of two fights with the K-bros. Valuev won't accept a 2.5 million dollar offer and a chance to win a title. Amazing, a soon to be 39 year old fighter is being ducked. If neither will accept a fight, I would like to see Vitali give one more call to Lewis or Byrd before having to settle on Briggs. Maybe Byrd would take the opportunity.
lewis is 44 and hasn't fought in 7 years. apart from financial gain there is nothing for vitali in that fight. he would rightly get no credit for it. he's better served making decent coin in germany fighting active guys who may shine up that record bit by bit.
Calling Byrd out would prove nothing. He was easily beaten by light heavy in his last comeback attempt. I would rather see the Briggs fight, than see Vitali beating old retired Byrd
