nah, hed have to KO degale to beat him, degale is quality and would prob take advantage of mendys style easily. hes got quite a few losses so now he has a bit of a name, they will want to capitalise on this, not set him back to where he was before

He had to fight anyone at any weight before as he needed the money. He wasn't a name and had bills to pay. Jim tried to get fights with Degale and Groves before but they weren't interested. Now the situation is different..Patrick has a bit of a name so now he can be promoted properly and fight people his own size with more than a weeks notice.

Exactly, this is the issue. You can bet that smith and especially magee do not want to be fighting domestic fighters any more.
This is what is wrong with the fight scene in general. Smith was a genuine contender for the title, not like winning prizefighter and getting in the frame.
I don't know too much about the 5 fight deal magee would have had, but surely a man in magee's position is obliged to fight the top challengers, as is smith with the british if he has to continue with the british for a while.
    we need eliminators asap

Just hope he doesn't get too held back. He has bags of experience on most similarly-aged fighters or prospects with the same number of fights.

He'll be looked after properly now. He's still only 19 and is learning and improving all the time. No need rush him. He should be moved onto 8 rounders for a while and see where he goes.

mendys style and energy wouldn't be easy for any boxer, and the so called losses are just that, home town jobs, if mendy won't then im thinking next in line should be paul david?:good

Yes, because in my post I implied Mendy would win handily:huh

He's game, fresh and ambitious; as good an opponent for Degale as anyone IMO.

Agreed. I actually think a fight would Degale, win or lose, would still help him big time. I'm not one for cultivating a winning streak myself.

even though mendy won prizefighter his style is still quite raw and i think degale would expose this over a longer fight. i'm not convinced about how good degale is but think his massive amatuer experience and size would prevail. let mendy get some more learning fights and enjoy his time in the limelight and then see how far his talent can take him

Jim Evans definitely isn't either! He'll give Patrick tough fights when he needs to. A bigger point really is that Patrick is only a middleweight. He's fought mainly supermiddle's and lightheavies so far as they were the only fights he could get.

At 160 he'll be the stronger boxer in the ring for once. I'm looking forward to seeing him out in september/october at 160.

the same thing with medy happend with Ovil McEnzie. Before prizefighter there calling everyone out and cannot get a fight. Then they win it and get decent offers and don't take them.

Good luck to Patrick at Middle though.

at the minute, i wouldnt have DeGale top 10 in the country.

Patrick said straight after Prizefighter that he was taking 2 months off as he hasn't had a break in 18 months. So technically he's not available to fight Degale!

But anyway, as I said, Patrick will return at middle so Degale and Groves aren't really on Jim's radar at the moment. Cello Renda, Paul Samuels, Danny Butler, Darren McDermott or either Concepcion would be a good fight for him next.

    Mendy? Now we are talking...:happy

You are right though. Kenny vs DeGale could be very good and worthy of a title.

Has DeGale faced a puncher yet?

Also, I think Groves would smack the **** out of the mouthy tosser.
