Everyone who matters in this division is either an Arum fighter or an Al Haymon fighter. I don't think Haymon wants to put his fighters up against each other, and I don't think Arum will let Floyd fight any of his fighters if he doesn't agree to fight Pac.

I don't see who Floyd will fight if he doesn't fight Pacquiao.

The only person who doesn't want to see if floyd mayweather jr can survive the Manny Pacquiao storm is floyd mayweather jr.

What?!?!!??! A win over martinez will mean more to his resume than beating the #1 p4p fighter/fighter of the decade????

I like martinez a lot but give me a ****ing break.

Of course it will happen dude, even if we put the reason you've just given aside, they'll still get it on. The demand, the hype, the situation etc, has made it come to a point where there is no turning back for either guy. They must fight each other.

People need to relax and stop stressing.

why would it mean more than beating Pacquiao? Is Martinez a great fighter? The only reason it would mean alot is cause Floyd would be getting a 6th division world title.

I don't really care about how much credit he gets; he seems like the type of guy who will only get his due once he's retired, but Martinez would be an easier fight for him than emmanuel pacquiao.

Order of difficulty from least to highest of the three evil southpaws for Floyd goes Martinez > pac > Williams.

It would be similar to how pac moved up in weight and ended up looking amazing. Back at 130 he dealt with better fighters, Marquez, but the skills of his bigger opponents weren't as great as those of Marquez.

Martinez would be a style perfect for Floyd. Southpaw running around with his hands down is perfect for the str8 right hand in the business. Lunging in with bad balance gets raped by the best timing in the sport. Etc

significantly, Pacquiao would be the bigger win than Floyd over Martinez, but I don't think Martinez is too far behind. He's the middleweight champ, and Floyd or Pacquiao who are trying to outdo the other, a win over Martinez is the icing on the cake. Whoever gets to Martinez first and beats him gets to the top of the mountain. If Pacman and Floyd never fight, whoever basically beats Martinez would have the luxury of saying they topped the other in accomplishments. But I think Martinez is just as dangerous as either of those 2 and could upset either of them.

I actually think the Martinez fight at 154 would be a much tougher challenge than the pac fight. I'm not saying martinez is a better fighter than pac, but there are a lot of reasons why i believe martinez could cause floyd some real problems.

The guy above me just said it himself, Martinez is the middleweight champ, that a scary prospect.

I think it would be tougher too, in fact I think Martinez wins.

But a pac win makes floyd a legend. A martinez win just makes martinez a no one.

    why would it matter?

    1. pac is too small

    2. blood test weakened pac

    3. hometown ref let floyd cheat

    4. hometown judges screwed pac

    5. pac was not focussed, he was worried about his work in congress

    6. pac was dehydrated

    7. pac was sick

    etc.

if they fight, and floyd wins, there will be more excuses than i can even imagine

so why's everyone think Martinez would be so tough for Floyd besides the size? I already explained a bit on why I think Martinez is tailor made for Floyd. Easier fight than pac.

I think most people pick floyd, but I think it's a bigger south paw who can outreach floyd and make it awkward enough to outpoint him.

Martinez circles well, uses his legs, and only turns up the heat when it's necessary.

He's a south paw with a good left lead and a good jab. He is also naturally bigger than floyd in most categories. I personally think it's a dumb fight for floyd to take.
Plus it will be for way less money than pac.
