As for the 2nd fight, "shot" fighters don't have monster rounds like it looks like bowe had in the 3rd and 4th just to say the least and they don't survive so much punishment (and deliver a good deal of their own) with a prime very good hw as golota was. If you wanna say Bowe wasn't at his peak in those fights, that's reasonable, but to say 'shot' no way

Golota is stupid. He had bowe beat but for some reason he kept hitting lowatsch The first fight was crazy. The brawl in the garden was worst than the pistons-pacers brawl.
Yea man I agree with TS, these are some underrated fights that are overshadowed to the disqualifications. Bowe might of faired better boxing at a distance and this was easily Golota's best career performances. Aside from the low blows. Bowe does look abit slower than when he fought vs. Holyfield tho.
At the end of that 3rd round, Bowe took as hellacious of a beating as I've ever seen...the fact that he wasn't collapsed in the corner after that, let alone to somehow stay in there for 6 more rounds and even come back later in the fight is something amazing. As strong a showing of heart as you will see.
Maybe not shot but that 3rd fight with Holy, Bowe was already slacking physically. He was slower and fatter. Then he came in to the first Golota fight the heaviest he weighed in his whole career.

Yeah, two pretty epic fights. Much like Tyson-Ruddock I&II, I find the sequel had more action and incident than the original too. I've said before, along with many other people, that Bowe-Golota II was a more deserved winner of Ring's best heavyweight fight of 1996 award than them giving it to Holyfield-Tyson I instead (which was a bigger surprise but a more routine fight in comparison). On a purely unemotive level though - fight should've been stopped by the ref (Cotton) in the 5th, when Bowe was getting battered on the ropes. Failing that, Bowe's own corner is overheard after the 7th saying (paraphrasing from memory) "Show us something or we'll stop the fight." Bowe goes out, gets pounded up and down the ring for the 8th, comes back to his corner and they just work away as normal, not a single thing said. I think both Cotton and Bowe's corner are most responsible for Bowe's mumbled speech these days. I understand if you think that's harsh, but they allowed Bowe to be braver than was good for his own health, and failed their own responsibilities to do what was right for the fighter. Not a single person would've blamed them for stopping the fight under the circumstances. For the record, I think Bowe was on the slide before these fights, but Golota made him 'shot'. And even a prime Bowe has problems with Golota's qualities. I remember you mentioning it at the time, too. Cool stuff.
